I'm in the airport and my TX/700P or whatever locks up and I have to hard reset it. Crap! I needed that information! Now I just go to the WiFi kiosk or access the net over the radio and I can get back all my info. Don't have to carry my laptop. Backing up to the card would be better, but I haven't seen one program yet that works with properly with non-volitile flash. This sounds like a great idea. Will try it. RE: Could be very useful
Try Resco Backup. Works perfectly on my TX ------------------------------------------------- Any device can have one more useful feature added. HandEra Moderator at PalmVenue RE: Could be very usefulfrankoT650 @ 5/24/2006 12:36:58 PM #
Their BackupBuddy VFS works great on my Treo 650, no problems at all. My experience with them has always been great, and I'm definitely going to try this because I've already lost one Treo and my memory card was in it and it was a total nightmare getting everything back. I can only think of this being usefull when: - I am at the airport and, - my Treo is stolen and, - I instantly buy a new one. For all other situations, I will rely on BackupMan. It creates a backup every night at 3:00 am on my sd card. Running like a dream for years now. No charges after the initial $10. RE: When?
the new backupman 2 has a small upgrade fee, but includes several new features including encryption. The developer has been fair an dresponsive, the program has worked nearly flawlessly for me over the years.
Online backup would be a great thing, but only with some deep encryption before even sending it. I've been tossing around the idea of setting up an ftp site to upload my Backupman files "just in case," but probably won't bother unless EVDO speeds make it workable.
BackupBuddy.Net will not backup on the 700P, but does on the 650. I continue to get a signal strengh Error, when I have a Max Signal. Their Support is FAST to send me back little patched upgrades, I like this. At least I know they are working on this. Right now as it stands I've had 4 Patched versions, all with different problems. As it stands right now, Support says "It looks like you and a few other 700P users are getting timeouts when backing up a single database called ContactsDB-PAdd. Do you have any way of pulling that database off of your Treo and sending it to me so I can try it here on the simulator?" and "Here is a special version that backs up all of the PIM data except Contacts. Can you try this and see if everything works correctly if we skip your contacts? Obviously this is not a solution. Just a test to try to track down the issue." Results: Sorry to say the first one from yesterday you sent me caused everything on the 700P to come to a halt. Once this version was installed, every built in Palm700 App reported the following: A reset was caused on 5/31/06 at 8:58pm while running "Camera"; TIP: ERROR can be found on the Sprint Treo700P by going to the Dial Pad, and Enter ##377 (##ERR) and then (Dial) this will show the Last Error and Reason I just tried the next PRC, Now during the calendar Backup I get the same thing. Waiting for Reply from Support... RE: BackupBuddy.Net will not backup on the 700P
((UPDATE))
The Support Group for BB.Net did a fantastic!!!!! Job on this, and has fix the Problem related to the New 700P. I had several rounds of test Apps from them, after 3 of them this was resolved.
