 Hey Mods....
Do you ever have \"sticky\" posts in these forums? Maybe it's not worth it, but maybe a sticky post \"how-to\" on upgrading to a new Palm would be helpful. Upgrade problems seem to be common and account for a lot of the questions that get asked around here.
Just my $0.02 worth.

I stickied my Palm repair guide but someone else removed that. I know that a lot of forums have stickies. If you see something, perhaps it is best to contact us.

Absolutely. If you see a thread that you think is worthy of a sticky, PM one of us and we'll put it up.

In this case it would be more like someone would write a post that specifically deals with the problems encountered in upgrading to a newer Palm. Almost like an "article" but in the "Palm" forum so tha it would be noticed by people who are having problems. IMHO, it just seems that upgrade problems are quite common, and the general solution is the same, but reqires a half-page reply to get it done right. Here's an example, but I'm not trying to imply that I have the definitive answer. It'd be better done by a couple of people editing it before it get placed as a sticky.

Edit: I would be happy to write up a first draft if some others would review and edit it. Each of us only has limited experience to draw from, and if it was to be that prominent, it'd be important to get it right.

Yeah, I like Maceyr's blog a lot for guides. I usualyl recommend those. So writing something like that and have it on PIC would be a great resource.

Another possible suggestion: A Wiki, were moderators could copy good answers to, and/or trusted users could make and/or improve entries. This could then become a good FAQ for new users, and for referencing when answering questions.
Example reply (links are non-existant):
Where the linked pages have the long explanations of how to perform these operations and the background explanation of how and why they work.

I am looking into getting a wiki going, I think that would be a great addition.
Does anyone know of a wiki that will work with php4 and a MS SQL server 2000? The wikipedia one requires mysql, which I can't install until I get a new server.

I don't know. Wikis are becoming pretty standard. To say that 1src got it first is kind of like saying they got an FAQ first. Who's the first Palm site to add a forum? Are all that followed ripoffs? I don't think so. I think adding a wiki is a great idea and unaffected by whether someone else already has one.

I know 1src discussed adding a Wiki, but to the best of my knowledge it was never implemented.

potter wrote: I know 1src discussed adding a Wiki, but to the best of my knowledge it was never implemented. A search for "wiki" on their front page only revealed one entry which led to a post the forums wherein: Quote: Please vote which you think would like added to the site. We will add a specific feature if it gets at least 150 votes by December 14, 2005.
As of today, there are 48 votes for a 1src blog and 116 votes for a 1src wiki. So, I would conclude they have not implemented a wiki.
