Please please please fix the \"New Posts\" bug!
I still cannot properly log into PIC using safari! Right now it is actually logging me in to the forum, however I CAN'T SEE WHICH FORUMS ARE ACTIVE AND WHICH ARE NOT since my last visit! It worked for me once or twice, however, I can't seem to find a way to get this going more efficiently. It becomes a real pain to visit here and contribute (or not) when it is like this; I don't want to trudge through all the ones I *think* might be new...
Any hope on the horizon? The old forums hiccuped once or twice, but pretty or not, these new forums have been anything but functional for me.

so you know, it's not just in safari. i have the same problem with firefox. it seems that after a long enough time (like, 12 hours or something) when you load the forums it logs you in *twice,* and then says that your last visit is the same time as your current visit. if you visit every hour or so this doesn't happen and the active topics actually show as such. kinda useless if you check the site only once or twice a day.
in the meantime, if you only check the site once a day, use the search function to find all posts within the last day. it's not great, but it's something.

this is weird. I can't reproduce this problem in safari or Firefox. Firefox seems to handle the login better, but with safari, it doesn't always log me in each time.

Are you sure that this issue is time related? I have been having a similar (I assume the same) problem ( see other thread). I have been able to reproduce this problem with Foxfire and with MS Internet Explorer. My assumption is that it is not time, or browser, but cookie management. I can reproduce this problem be either changing computers I am using, or by changing what browser I am using from the same computer (thus a different set of cookies).

I kept myself logged in (technically, at least) the last few days. Today, after I got through reading the new smartphone article, I clicked to visit the forums. It said I WASN'T logged in.
Then, after the forum had loaded, I hit re-load, and voila, it came up with me being logged in AND it also MARKED THE MOST RECENT POSTS!!
Just in hopes that this helps figure the problem out...

Yes, this is the problem I have with safari, and there is an easy workaround for now...
9 times out of 10 when I hit the forums in safare, the first page that comes up I'm not logged in. If i click on the forum index or goto any forum, it logs me in.
I'm trying to work on a solution but have been pretty busy with all the news lately and I don't know php that well.

I use Mozilla and every time I come here, it shows my last visit as the current time As the result, I cannot get any new postings at all. This is a real problem for me.

DOH!!
After a few days of safari not logging me in immediately, then being able to hit refresh and then everthing being hunkydory, it all went crappola.
Now, safari is logging me in immediately, and I fear that kezza and/or potter may be correct - it is logging me in twice successively. The last time I visited is the same time it is now! Thus, no \"posts since last visit again.\"
DOH!!!
a fix soon?
Don't anyone try to convince me it is the machine I use or any crap like that - this wasn't ever an issue with the old forums, so THAT was being handled. All my other pages/cookies still behave correctly...

 Re:
Unfortunately this is also a problem with Firefox. I didn't really notice that the last posts weren't highlighted, thought it didn't exist with the new forums. But I do have the double login problem. I used to just be able to log out then back in and it would work correctly but now it is constant.

So?
What is the status of this particular issue? ...
Can't wait to be able to easily keep up with the events at hand!
And I would like to make use of the new (at least to me -- I never saw this in the old forums; but it could just be me) option to display all new posts since last visit!
HELP!!

Busy, why? Has something been happening in the Palm world?
Seriously, we figured you were otherwise occupied. Looking forward to a fix when you can get around to it. Maybe you should contact the AusPUG admin guys, they've been using the phpBB forums for ages.

I don't know if this is the same problem as what others are reporting, but just now I had a login issue. I was on the main page and it showed me as logged in (via cookie). I hit \"discussion forums\" link and it went straight there. Normally, when you are logged in and hit \"discussion forums\" you go through a redirect. This did not happen. Not only did I go straight to the forums, it did not show me as logged in anymore, so I couldn't get \"new posts\", etc.
I did a \"back\" and tried again and this time it worked. Go figure.

Yeah, that is what is happening for us, too.
