Post Vista and my T3
Hello everyone

I have been using a Tungsten T3 happily for a few years.

Recently I had to get a new PC which had Windows Vista. I downloaded PalmDesktopWin414e and installed it OK, I have successfully done a Hotsync.

However I am unable to install applications onto the T3 using Quickinstall. (It's the updates for Datebook6 I am wanting to do)

I seem to recall reading that there was some issue with Quickinstall and Vista, but they said they were going to fix that problem.

Anyone else had this problem ? Is there a way round it? Could I drag the applications onto an SD card from the PC, and then put the SD card into the T3 and install them from the card, or will that cause it to self destruct?!

Grateful for any advice thanks

Correct, Quick Install does not work under Vista. However, when they release Palm Desktop 6.2 they removed QuickInstall replacing it with the older Install application. Alas, according to Palm, Palm Desktop 6.2 does not support the T3.

Yes you can do that. There is also the freeware application MyInstall that may make this process easier.

Other possibilities include:

Trying Palm Desktop 6.2. I thought I heard that some people were using it with older devices. But I could be wrong, might want to ask/check around.

Try the older Install. In the Windows file browser navigate to where the Palm software is installed (probably C:\\Program Files\\PalmOne). In this directory you will find QuickInstall.exe, but you will also find InstApp.exe. Try double clicking on it to launch it. Try using it to install something onto your T3. If this works, then we can add a shortcut to this in your program menu and change the PRC and PDB file handler to be this application.

I happened to be setting up my son's Vista laptop with an ancient M100, I managed to get Palm Desktop 6.2 sync'ing by following the advice on this link:
