Can't hotsync.. port in use error message

I have a Macbook 10.5.7 .. TX v 5.4.8 P And use to be able to hotsync with bluetooth... now I get messages saying - Unable to initiate because port is in use by another application...

I don't know anything else using a port. But I don't know how to see what is using what port .. that info would be helpful.

Also.. I did have a reinstall of my operation software since my last hotsync.. perhaps something is missing?? I do have the Palm Desktop on the computer and it opens with files previously put on.

Also wondering if it is the computer's name that may have been changed.. tried to check that...and put in what I think is my computer's name.. I am not sure where to check that info on my computer either.. that would be helpful info...

Also... bluetooth is enabled on both PDA and computer...

I would appreciate any and all help.. to get this back hotsyning again.

Wondering if some other program is missing that once was on the Mac..
