Post copying MP4/AAC file to SD card...
I need your help...

I've converted many of my own DVD to MP4/AAC file to be viewed on Quicktime and iTune. It plays fine on my Mac but when I tried to copy some files to my SD card using card reader, it tries to copy but it aborts stating error -36.

I think this is due to copyright management of AAC and/or MP4. I used to just install the file onto my MissingSync and it used to copy it, albeit it took forever since it is only USB. However, now I can't even copy these video files using the MissingSync either.

Anyone out there with solution to this little dilemma? Shish... all I'm trying to do is copy my own files... Darn those DRM!@?!

Take a look at JHymn...

http://hymn-project.org/jhymndoc/

It allows you to strip the DRM off of mp4 files, but it won't work on music you bought on iTunes 6 or higher at the moment (Apple changed the DRM in the latest version).

After the DRM is stripped you can use the file as you would any other unencrypted AAC file.

I've tried JHymn but can't get it to work on an .mp4 file that I ripped from one of my own DVDs using handbrake. I do have iTunes 6 installed, does this prevent JHymn from working?

Does anyone else have a solution for copying .mp4 to palm on a mac?

The Missing Sync include an iTunes plugin that makes your Palm show up as a source in iTunes. From there, it's a simple matter of dragging files from your library to the Palm icon within iTunes. It really can't get any easier IMO.

The default install tool probably doesn't know how to handle .mp4 files, so you need a way to manually copy them to the card. The Missing Sync lets you mount the SD card on the desktop, which makes copying files very easy. Something like CardExport could work as well, but if you're on a Mac, why not use the best tool for the job? I resisted buying the Missing Sync, but after finally making the leap, I can attest that it's well worth it.
