Seriously now DWD, are ya ever gonna update the avatar? I'm sure the kids in the pic have grown up at least a little in the past few years

I stand (or sit, rather) corrected...
Now how about that T|T.... hasn't your choice in PDAs grown up a bit in the last few years?

Pepper, like you're one to talk about updating avatars.

Nope, still use my T|T...almost bought a T|X a few times...waiting for a T|X2, but don't think it will ever come.
Might get a Treo some day when it has GPS and WiFi built in, but then again I'm pretty happy with my cell phone (Motorola V557) and by that I mean I hate it less than any other cell phone...charge lasts a week, simple, reliable, no non-sense, get the job done phone (never used while driving, only used about once a day normally).

I still pop in now and again just to see if the pillocks at Palm have brought out a replacement for my TX - I don't want a convergent device thank you!
Anyway, is it true that Legodude has now reached puberty?

I wasn't going to post in this thread as I still don't feel like an 'old timer' just yet!.. so I checked when I joined.. I know it's not THAT long but I can't believe it was 2 years ago.... I really got sucked into the Palm PDA world after I got my Zire72 Sat Nav package, and dragged my girlfriend in with me - getting her a Zire31 and after she destroyed that a Tungsten E2 which she uses every day for business and to feed here solitaire/bejeweled/tetricrisis addictions..
I still use the Zire 72 for SatNav, but have gone from it to a Tapwave Zodiac2 to a Tungsten C and now onto a Lifedrive (which I've turned into a LifeFlash) for my PDA... even have a Fossil wrist PDA that I played with for a while, putting in an iPod nano battery to make it last longer...
I'd probably use the older PDAs more if I didn't have to keep re-syncing everything after I forget to charge them! I periodically think of getting a TX just to play with but really can't justify it so I keep talking myself out of it... the lifedrive will do!
So I think I've packed a fair bit into my 2 years here - I think I'll classify myself as just a 'timer' and forget about the 'old' part!!
The Treo/Centro lines have never really appealed to me - especially after seeing the issues my brother has had with treos every now and then when he tries them.
I find myself using my Symbian smartphone more as a PDA now though So I guess I am reluctantly switching to converged devices.. despite saying I never would... I just wish Palm would take a long hard look at where they came from and get back into the PDA market to give us the updated modern device/OS and software that we crave......

Yep, I said exactly that too. Then got the BlackBerry (a freebie).
Oh well; never too old to change my mind I guess.
Remember that I had a Windows Mobile PDA after the Palms, so I have been thoroughly exposed to a ratshit operating system. Mind you, the RIM OS, while robust, lacks a decent PIM and as I write there is none available. Both Agendus and Pocket Informant will be released for RIM OS later this year. My (hardly cutting edge now) 7130g is a good phone, a nice interface, cops lots of physical abuse in my job, and once you've had push e-mail it's hard to do without it, hence the nickname the devices have of "crackberry". I'd be interested to try one of the BlackBerry-equipped Treos, although they've had bad press relating to the hardware on BlackBerry forums ( to be expected I guess, there would be some bias). Not sure if a Centro can be linked to the RIM system; probably can.

Yeah, I also never felt that a convergent device was the answer for me... until I got one. I think for people who are around computers all day rarely have the need, but my life style makes it incredibly rare to use a desktop or laptop, and I found the Centro to be a very strong replacement. The only thing I *can't* do is program in any of the IDEs I needed for college.
Ultimately, it turned into a better solution than I anticipated. I no longer even bother to maintain internet at home. Plus, as a girl, a petite convergence device is totally the answer -- pocket and purse space is always at a premium, so carrying a Palm *and* phone seperately wouldn't work at all.
Plus, now I can nerd it up on my Centro @ parties, and no one will question cause they think I'm just SMSing people
-Pepper
BTW: Alex, I'm not sure I could ever change the avatar -- the odd ball one I have is just too classic

I didn't really give smartphones much thought until the iPhone. And now I really can't live without having access to the internet anywhere. It's more useful than I could have ever imagined.
And then I shattered the screen on Thursday after it took a tumble from my pocket on my way to the office and landed face down on concrete. The crazy part? The phone still works flawlessly. A spider-webbed screen can't stop it.
I'm anxiously awaiting Apple's announcement tomorrow. I couldn't care less about Palm anymore.

You should be banned from this site.
Okay, not really....
Yea, I made the switch over to a treo 700wx in jan 07 and full-time in July 07. I'd NEVER go back to a regular phone... I'd NEVER go back to a pda.
If any of you live in an area with sprint, look up sprint SERO... it is well worth the look to save some cash.. I pay $50 a month for 1250 minutes, unlimited text, unlimited data (internet/email), nights start at 7 pm, free long distance, etc, etc....
SERO made the jump cost me nothing extra...
DWD,
Which one are you? My guess is you are the one on the left (looking at the screen).
You and your dad smile alike... cool picture....

As old as I'm getting, legodude more than likely will post pictures of HIS two kids next...
Long as I'm not emailed to be a character witness in his hacking trial, I'm cool...
Lego should be out of high school by now... or was that last year? Who knows... hard to keep up....

Pepper, I think you're going to have to change your avatar. Years of passively viewing it at a young age got me used to it. But since I haven't seen it in years, it now looks horribly awkward to me. It's a duck CLEARLY violating a walrus.

It's a happy looking walrus though...
