http://www.furl.com -- you can save web pages there. They save the entire page so it never becomes \"extinct.\" So, if you can't link to the original because it's been erased, you can link to the copy at FURL.
Some people use a competing (the first?) such service, called del.icio.us -- but I didn't know about them and somehow found out about FURL just as it started, so I went there. Plus, FURL adds this teeny drop-down menu in my Fox toolbar.
Yahoo is beta-testing a likewise service called Yahoo MyWeb. But they want people to install the ENTIRE FREAKING YAHOO TOOLBAR to use it. I emailed them and told them to forget that! They'll have to provide that teeny spot that FURL does, then I'll consider switching.
On del.icio.us, I've been told most people look for 770 coverage at http://del.icio.us/tag/mobitopia?page=4
Anyway, at FURL, search with \"Nokia 770\" and you'll find a bunch of the same stuff I've posted here (with some stuff I haven't).

 Re: Your wish list

1) ... 8 ) Ability to read MS Reader .lit ebooks
Since we're unlikely in this lifetime to see MS Reader on anything other than a Windows platform, and not even all of those, does having Plucker Viewer satisfy your wish?

You must have missed my Plucker link a few pages back.
My thing about .lit files is:
1) There are so MANY of them
2) .lit files usually use correct typography (italics, bold, etc) (I say \"usually\" because I've also seen some dreadful non-professional ones)
3) I'm probably one of the few people who *liked* MS Reader on PPC (DRM aside, that is)
I haven't researched doing CLit->Plucker. Since I'm mostly lazy too, I'll wait for someone else to do an article like that so I can just follow the instructions.

Sure, head to head, MS Reader wins over Plucker. But where do they go head to head?
MS Reader is only for Windows systems. Not sure if it's there at all for WinCE handhelds. Plucker seems to be available only on Palm, Mac and Linux systems. I haven't found any way to view Plucker files on a Windows computer except to use a Palm emulator.
But you answered my question: It's MS Reader you'd like (and understandably so), and not just a really super e-book reader like Plucker Viewer.
Who knows? If MS Office can be sold for Mac, maybe MS Reader can migrate to Mac and Linux some day.

I'm not against Plucker. I've never used it. But ebooks on my Palm were horrible. I appreciated the fonts and formatting and interface of MS Reader on my (now dead) GENIO.
Once I try Plucker on the 770, I'll most likely be sold. It has all the formatting stuff of MS Reader, from those screen snaps. So someone had best do that CLit->Plucker piece!
And Alslayer, I don't understand the hostility to ebooks, either (well, unless they're experiencing them on a Palm device!). I loved reading on the GENIO -- it's the one thing I miss about the device. And I hadn't finished reading one ebook when the screen went and died on me. ^%$#@.

The Nokia 770 Blog seems to have what looks like an exclusive Nokia communique --
Improving speed: official reply from Nokia

I am, of course, suitably impressed and filthy jealous.

Was the problem on the Palm device from Ereader or just that you couldn't change the fonts and formatting?
I am not a font lover so I was happy using my Handspring Visor Deluxe and Ereader.

Yeah, I need fonts and professional things like italics and boldface.
Frenchie: Go check http://www.maemo.org for that info. I am clueless about recompiling and that sort of stuff. Also check out that link above that mentions Python -- it shows a game I think was made under Python (that's a guess; I also know nothing about Python!).

Wow, thanks much for that, Roger.
Suggestion: add http:// to your sig URLs so people can click on them directly.
OK, yesterday I was housebound. Today I am Going Out.
I am not going to be shackled to this ^%$#@ PC today. I am going to Walk The Earth. Therefore, I will not be posting Nokia items today.
