Tungsten TX serial

We have developed a GSM cradle for the Palm E2 and would like to use the TX as well, however we are finding that the TX serial lines (TX and RX, not USB) have no activity on them. We observed this with an oscilloscope. Our configuration of the Connection and Network are exactly the same as we use on the E2 however none of the serial lines are active on the TX.

We had heard that there was a \"patch\" for the TX that would enable the serial lines. Has anyone heard of this issue?
