I need REAL data security for my Treo 650

I've surveyed a bunch of Treo data encryption programs that use very high end encryption methods, but their databases all can be accessed by anyone who can crack a five or ten character password that's stored on the Treo. While this is convenient and appropriate for low-risk data protection, it is not, to my mind, the kind of 'protection' I want for my bank acct numbers, pin#s, etc. I'd much rather have a program into which I have to paste (for example) a 256 character key to decrypt my data. Maybe I'd keep the key file on a card in my wallet and slot it into the Treo only when I need to provide the key to the program. Maybe I'd have to wait a few minutes for the number crunching to get done. That's a reasonable trade off for high quality security for me. Does anybody know of a Treo program that provides this kind of no-nonsense security? Tnx in advance. - Jim

Insert SD card.
Work on data.
Remove SD card and store it in a safe place.

Check out TealLock (I use it). It will encrypt (128b I think) everything or just select things on your PDA. Has multiple time-outs, will erase everything after a certain number of failed tries, etc.. Allows a password as long as you want. Lock screen. Lock IR port. Lock hotsync port. Very powerful.

If you have to paste a password in, then you are risking security since you have to write it down. Most IT research companies recommend a strong password (10 characters, mix of lower- and upper-case, numbers and symbols).

Because I am paranoid, I also use this in conjunction with SplashID for high security items.

Check out Super Security. I haven't tried it but it looks good.
