Clie SJ22 - BLANK? Is my info all gone?
OK, so my Sony Clie was not charged for a few days. Normally when this has happened, it just goes back to normal after a charge.
However, TODAY it is completely blank. It thinks it is 2003, and there is absolutely NO information on it. Nothing.
I used to hotsync it, but that computer died a few months ago and this one does not have the software, so it has not been done in a while (I know. I know.) But that also means I cannot restore it from that memory.
1) Am I doomed? Is it really all gone? Isn't there a backup battery or memory in there? (Can you tell I am a beginner?)
2) I have no clue where the software is that came with it. What do I need to make this computer do hotsync?
Thanks so much - three years of info gone is tough to take....

 Go to 1sr and ask
for an installation program for your device. Once you hotsync on your new computer make sure you have a copy saved of the program. I am experimenting with a lot of different Sony Clie devices and the drivers are a pain to keep in preparation so that I can have several brands of Palm flavored devices....
Maybe you should next get a device like Palm Z22 , TX or TE2 that have non-
volitile memory. If you done want to go that route you need an advanced clie that has MSBackup (os 5).
You saw it coming when you couldn't hotsync, you still could have beamed the programs and data to a memory card device when you had the chance....

Re: Clie SJ22 - BLANK? Is my info all gone?
Yes, SJ 22 has MS Backup, and you do need to hae a memorystick to place that file into that spot in order to not lose it when the battery goes dead.
Memorysticks when you "erase" or delete files the file still remains to a certain extent that it can be recvered (only if not overwritten several times). The original poster seems to not have learned how to save a program, such a shame but some people never learn how to do backups and save them.
The backups on MS backup can also be moved to a cd or other storage medium, trial runs of software can be replayed on a fully reset Palm PDA (or if you know what files are placed there to deactivate the trial program...) It is a pain to add each and every file into backup but it helps to prevent reading or adding old useless files and files that will cause problems. .
