Comments on: Quickies: Wireless Security, Blazer, $150 IIIxe, m100 Cases

Kasten Chase Applied Research Ltd. has signed a deal with Palm Inc. to develop data security products to be used on Palm's handhelds. Palm will use these to protect sensitive electronic data while it is stored on their devices but also while the data is in transit over wireless networks. The applications should debut by the fourth quarter of the year.

On May 22, Blazer 1.0 and betas of Blazer 1.1 will expire. Users will need to upgrade to the new version by that date. Blazer 1.1 costs $20 but is free to VisorPhone owners.

Blazer on Palm

altema @ 5/21/2001 2:12:46 PM #
Has anyone used Blazer on a Palm device, specifically the IIIc? PalmScape had problems formatting some pages (AvantGo works fine). Blazer looks like it's worth a try but I could not find a demo.

I used the Blazer Beta on an m100, so basically its palmOS software that will work on any device, from the lowliest "Pilot" to m505s and Clie SXXXCs

I’ve been using the Blazer for the last two weeks and I can’t believe how well it runs. Its in color so it easy to read with my M505 But, I’m just having a problem with the cost ($20.00) I’m going to wait until my blazer
(beta) runs out before I make up my mind if I will purchase The new upgraded version or not...

Overall I really like it but I still use the palm web clipping, which I use, daily...!!!The best part of that its free... =O)~

Ps. I use my Nokia 8290 to connect to the net.

Just wondering, I have a nokia 8290, a IIIc & would like to get connected using Blazer. What ISP do you use?. My cell carrier is VoiceStream so I'd would imagine that I'll need to upgrade to DataStream. Any help on how to get started would be appreciated.
Thanks, Joe

Okay,

This is all you need to get started. Although this came bundled with my M505. I was strongly considering in purchasing.

The Palm™ Mobile Internet Kit (see link below)
http://www.palm.com/software/mik/

Cost $ 40.00

I use the same phone number that I use to dial Earthlink on my pc to access the net and viola your surfing...

This works great! It took me about 20 min to get it setup .

Ps.
I use voice stream as well and I didn’t have to up grade my service to the one you described.(no upgrade needed)

Anyways,
I hope this helps
