I'm actually impressed with the Springboard modules...

I had absolutely no idea Handspring had so many springboard modules available.

I'm actually impressed.

I remember waiting anxiously for Handspring to release their handheld, and then anxiously awaiting a good Springboard module before I bought a Visor... and then that excitement seemed to die, and I bought a sony clie instead.

How long has the bluetooth module been available? With all the big news about the SD BT Module, and the MS BT Module, I would've figured the Springboard BT Module would've been mentioned.

You must have missed it when it came out late last year:

If only....

HS should have been brave enough to miniaturize the SB to extend the life of this technology. They walked away from quite a following. Oh well, I'm going to "collect 'em all" when they're $20 and under on Ebay.

They would have had to not only make it smaller but totally redesign it. The Springboard was designed to connect directly to the Dragonball processor. The move to ARM based chips would make them have to start over from scratch. None of the current crop of Springboards would work with ARM handhelds without an extremely complicated (read expensive) adapter.

Always bashing... Remember the Visor and the Springboard came to life in 1998. It is still doing well. With the new ARM processor itīs likely that none of the existent Palm accesories wonīt work. As the accesories for III series donīt work with m Series. Or the CLIE, N series accesories donīt work with T. Or the Pocket PC 2002 donīt work with Pocket PC or much less with Win CE. The thing that you should not overlook is that your m515 or even a new Palm with OS5 can run apps made in 1998 or for your previous Palm III without major problems. This canīt be said from PPC and Win CE 2.0 or WIN CE...

Springboards are great!

I have a Visor Prism, and I can't imagine owning a handheld without a Springboard Module or something equivelent. I keep my Memplug SM in most of the time, but when I need it, my Eyemodule is always with me in my pocket. There is no other expansion option like the Springboard, and I hope that Handspring carries it on to their OS 5 Products somehow. (That is the optomist in me speaking...)
I am probably going to pick up a GPS next, although I don't really need it...

20% Off in UK too

Romanov @ 3/16/2002 3:46:27 AM #
Hi,

There is 20% off at Widget UK on the same range and its advertised on Handspring's UK site. Eyemodule at Ģ47, Blade-M at Ģ120 etc. We still pay more than the US but its a start.

This is kind of cheesy, but here's a link to reviews of several Springboard module wireline modems for Visors (wireline modems are the ones you plug into the phone jack).

Visor Central Springboard modem reviews:

Hope this helps!
