Off topic: Honda Pilot

I wonder how long it will take for Pilot Pen to sue Honda for their new SUV, the Pilot, like they sued Palm computing.

Unless Honda has a pen interface for the new SUV, I do not believe they will have violated the Pilot Pen trademark. Trademark law generally protects the use of the same or a similar name in the same market space. "Product confusion" is one of the key tests for trademarket infringement. I don't think to many people will be confusing the big suv with a writing product.

The case against Palm was pretty cut and dry. Pilot Pens had actually previously produced a retail product in the form of a data input stylus for the Apple Newton and still was an OEM stylus producer for a number of vertical market pen computers.

Basically, Pilot Pens had already occupied the space with their trademarked name. Palm never had a chance to keep the name.

Just my 2 cents.

May be Honda won't get sued simply because it is a much bigger (hence bigger the amount of $$$ can be used to fight the law suite) company than the Pen comany.

Your explaination is better than "Piloting the Palm"

Thanks.

Will this device be avaiable in the US?

So?

I.M. Anonymous @ 6/3/2002 4:21:10 PM #
Why would anyone here want the Japanese version?

Look at the forum with the people you are asking. These people spend 100's of dollars everytime their company they are devoted to releases something. They mock everything else with a gigantic fervor. They talk like they can do no wrong. Where-as most people in the world think practical, they assume everybody shares their likes and dislikes and mock those who disagree with them. They would rather be broke and poor on the street than be sensible. They make fun out of everything as a sick thrill and ruin the experience for everyone else. They taint the forum with stupidity and arrogance that we all can live without. This is not directed toward one specific group, but to all who have a group and can not look at a device objectively. We all choose for different reasons but don't need to put down others during the debate. The anonymous posting may possibly foster that, but it's up to Ed whether or not it does. I'd rather see more intelligent posts rather than people who hate the world go through and debunk every line in the previous post like I am complete scum. If people possess this much hate, this is not the forum for them, but unfortunately they can not uncloud their vision long enough to see that. Am I upset? Yes. Why should I have to bother filtering out posts on a news item EVERY TIME because someone(Or a group of people) feel it's neccessary to preach the evil of it, as if they are devout angels. For christ's sake people, it's a computer and the company doesn't pay you to advertise, so keep your RUDE opinions to yourself and instead deliver constructive criticism where everyone will benefit instead of just judging you as an inept fool who sleeps with his (Insert choice brand of PalmOS Device here) every night. Thank you.

1) Plenty of Japanese speakers read this site.

2) A Japanese palm can run English proggies and sells for at least $50 less.

3) The OS can be reflashed to English.

I'm the same person that ranted above.

On that same note, has anybody changed the OS on the Japanese NR70's to the English one so they get 2 more mb of flash memory?
