Comments on: CorePlayer Update Coming Later This Month

CorePlayer - Palm OSMobileRead have posted a news item regarding an upcoming update to the CorePlayer portable media application. This update has been several months in the making and is eagerly awaited by the CorePlayer community. While details are still sparse at this point, the primary new features such as the CoreTheque database addition and other improvements can be found within the CoreCodec forums.

In short, beginning on May 14th, CoreCodec will begin releasing new versions of the app for one platform at a time. The various Windows-powered mobile OSes will be the first new CorePlayer releases with the Palm OS version to be released thereafter. Symbian devices will be the final recipients of the new CorePlayer.

Will it stop crashing?

freakout @ 5/3/2007 12:59:53 AM # Q
Here's hoping that they'll finally solve the "crash on exit" problem that has plagued the PalmOS versions of Coreplayer. It consistently crashes my Treo 650 on exit, and trips up the 680 occasionally as well.

I apologise for any and all emoticons that appear in my posts. You may shoot them on sight.
Treo 270 ---> Treo 650 ---> Crimson Treo 680

Consistently running fine on my 700p (except for the lag, of course). I'd test it on a 650 myself, but they have no demo and an archaic licensing scheme...

There's always TCPMP on the 650 which rarely crashed on me. If you paid for coreplayer and it is known to not work right on the 650 then perhaps they should refund your $$$$

I think the problem on the 650 is probably the lack of RAM, and the fact that I've stuffed it to the gills with various apps and things, and there's probably not a lot Core can do about that. It's actually worse on the 680 because despite the fact it crashes far less often, the 680's painfully slow boot time makes it a lot more annoying than it should be.

I wouldn't ask for my money back, 'cause I'm very happy with the program otherwise.

Yet another slipped release date!

Don't hold your breath on the big announcement of the 1.1 releaes of CorePlayer. I jsut read on their forum BetaBoy's little message that they may delay again the long promised update. I don't know how many times this has happened in the past 6 months.

^^ Too often to pay attention to. Can't wait for some more of the promised codecs, but I've been busier waiting on the 700p firmware the last year or so - a little lower on the hierarchy of Treo needs.
