HotSync and Charge Palm with USB Port

If you are tired of bringing a transformer and cradle with you while travelling, PDAsia has a solution for you. The Billionton USB Sync Charger allows users to connect a Palm and the USB port on a PC or notebook and simultaneously charge and HotSync. There are models for the Palm V and III series. On models without rechargeable batteries, it can still perform a HotSync. It costs US$52 (delivery included).

Update: Brando offers the Palm V USB HotSync + Charger Cable that performs the same functions for US$39 with delivery. -Ed

The Billionton USB Sync Charger supports Windows 98/ME/NT/2000, and Mac OS 8.6 or above. As a bonus, a USB extension cable is included in the package.

Awesome Essential Product

I bought one of these in Taiwan 4 months ago for about $20 US for my Sony laptop. I can't live without it now. Excellent/rapid recharge for your Palm battery and very fast hotsync for all those Avant Go channels and apps.
One touch button to hotsync and light indictors for charging, and TX/RX data. Too bad they want $50+ here in the US, I would have brough suitcases home and sold them for $30 :-)

Unless you're using a Visor or a the m5xx series the hotsync is not faster than with a serial cable as the Palm itself can't support faster rates despite the USB cable.

FCC Approval in Billionton USB Sync Charger

I.M. Anonymous @ 4/5/2001 12:39:52 PM #
Hey man, as I know, although Brando have similar product at a lower price, his product do not carry FCC approval. Meanwhile, the Billionton USB Sync charger from PDAsia have granted the FCC approval already. What does it mean? That means the electrical design of the product is proved to be ok and passed the examination....

FCC Approval?

I don't see what's the standard of them, nor I don't know much about FCC, but what I found for those USB sync cable from PDAsia is, it won't stop charging EVEN you palm is FULLY charge, it keep on pumpping power in untill you disconnect it, I don't know does it hurt the battery. but I think it does.

(on rechargable palm devices, controller is build on cardle side to advoid over-charge, otherthan Visor which is on machine side)

I just reviewed an Innopocket case that I got from him, and I have to say he's a fantastic retailer - very reliable and quick. And his prices are the best.

Charges Palm V from batteries

There's another accessory Syncharger (www.i-vox.com) that been around for quite a while which also
charges Palm V with only a pair of batteries.

I saw it in last year Comdex 2000 in Las Vegas and costs around US$50.

I bought a device extremely similar called a Landware Battpac. It is exactly the same thing, but now that i am searching for it again it seems as if it is discontinued....perhaps the syncharger company bought the rights from landware and landware discontiuned their model...i dont know....but the devices are exactly the same. Mine works great and i LOVE it...

During the Cebit in Hannover Germany, I saw one exhibitor in the Palm booth demostrating this
syncharger charging the Palm V and Vx. I have one and it can even hot-syn to your PC/laptop via
a serial cable that comes with it.

I thought that this is frm Landware too but after talking to the exhibitor (young engineer), he told me
that Landware is the distributor for this company Shinei in USA and this company is also the one that
manufactures i-vox (For Palm III/IIIc/V/Vx) digital voice recorder, tsunamidi (midi composer for Palm V/Vx),
mp3 and 56K modem (Palm 100 series).....they have so many accessories!!
