Quickies: Palm Rumors, m500 Innards, Memory Stick Mouse

Spencer F. Katt, ZDnet's frequently incomprehensible rumormonger, is repeating a rumor that Sony may be considering buying out Palm, even offering more than twice its current stock value. Palm took steps last Fall to protect itself from a hostile takeover.

Dave Design has disassembled a brand new m500 and taken pictures. They carefully document the process, step by step, on their website. Most surprising is how small the battery is.

Sony is offering an optical mouse that is also a Memory Stick reader and writer. It offers a 3 Mb/sec. transfer rate and can be used on almost any surface. It costs $90.

Now that is pretty neat. This means less clutter on the desktop. I mean the real desk surface, not the computer screen desktop :) Someone should make one for the other flash memory devices too.

Didn't Sony already have the memory stick mouse? I think if youu bought one of their digital cameras that featured the Memory Stick, they would give you the mouse as a reader for free, or something like that.

News doesn't always have to be new. I was pretty sure this wasn't a new product but I suspected it was one many people hadn't heard of before. That's why it got a mention, but on the second page of a quickies article.

Oh yeah right. And Sony is?? Sony only takes on things it can completely control. Imagine them buying Palm... Every freakin device would have a memory stick and nothing but.

God, I hope this rumor is hog wash... Sony buying Palm would be a sad sad event.

That would make both major handheld OS's run by a Borg squad.

Stay away from Palm Sony!!! You BEAST!!!
