S320 lacks cradle too

mikecane @ 7/24/2001 9:34:59 AM #
It comes with a USB cable. But for $200, that's still half the price of an m500!

I saw an S320 yesterday (aside from the one I saw at PC Expo, which I mostly ignored). Interesting benefit of OS4 installed is that the app icons have grayscale.

Ahhh, but the S320 isn't advertised as coming with a cradle. I just left a message with my contact at Sony suggesting that he have the SonyStyle site fixed as soon as possible.

Are you sure that people have received the 610? I saw Ryan's post in the discussion forum, and he specifically asked about the S320. I responded that it did have a cable, but not a cradle, but I think we've known that from the Sonystyle web site for quite some time. I believe the 610 will come with a cradle. I'm very active in several different Clie boards, and I haven't seen any mention of anyone receiving a 610 yet, so I'm wondering if these rumors are based on confusion/typos on the difference between the 320 and 610.

I myself have not come across a 610 in NYC (I checked all the stores I frequent yesterday; the best I came up with was that sole 320). (And, yes, I hit the NYC SonyStyle store too -- even they didn't have an S320! Typical!)

As for Ed, Sony's own press release stated the 320 would come with a cradle. When people got theirs home, some of them were pissed!

Guys, it is beginning to look like I screwed up, which means I'm going to have to spend quite some time apologizing to the Sony rep. In an attempt to look like less of a fool, I just pulled any reference to this from the site until I have a better idea of what's going on.

Mike, do you still have a copy or URL of Sony's release on the N610C?

I don't remember reading this anywhere. Everywhere I looked, it says "comes with USB cable"

When the S320 and N610 were first announced, Sony had mixed messages about whether a cradle was included or not with the S320, with some pages on the Sonystyle site saying one thing and some saying the other. But, within a few days of the announcement, I think they had all their pages fixed to indicate the S320 came with a cable only. However, everything I saw then and now indicated that the 610 would come with the cradle, and for that price, I'd be shocked if that weren't true.

Go to Sony Clie support page, http://www.ita.sel.sony.com/support/clie/ , in the first column is a pdf file of the specifications of 610 and 320, (along with 300/710) download it, it says Package Contents, 610 comes with a a cradle and 320 comes with a cable.

Btw, Why is this thread "S320 lacks cradle too" under the comments section of Quickies Shanghai, Web Clipping ??????????????

It's in here because this article originally contained a rumor about the 610 not coming with a cradle, but Ed removed it when further information came in.

Shanghai looks cool

hmm licensed from Activision and it shows in the screenshots. That plus support from Take Two/Global Star, Sega and Sony, and the Palm turns into quite an interesting portable game machine.

I am not a big fan of these kind of games but this version is absolutely fabulous.

This is certainly one of the best games available for the Palm OS! In color this game is gorgeous -- and plays well too with lots and lots of options!
