According The Register, the developers of the iPaq are so unhappy about Compaq's upcoming merger with Hewlett-Packard, the entire group has put themselves up for auction on the job search site The Vault. -John and stonemirror

IBM has dropped prices on the Microdrive. The 1GB version is now $380, the 512MB version is $260, and the 340MB version is $200. The Microdrive is a Type II Compact Flash card that works with the HandEra 330 and TRGpro. -Mike Cane

Purple Data Cables now has a Visor Travel Hotsync Cables in various lengths on its website. These allow the user to HotSync in the same fashion as with a cradle, but with a much more compact product. It is compatible with Visor Solo, Deluxe, Platinum, and Prism. Prices vary depending on the length of the cable. -PR

So the iPaq team thinks working with HP will be worse than working for a "to be determined" company.

Other than experience, I expect not much of their design and engineering information can leave Compaq/HP.
