T Series Patch

Ed @ 1/21/2002 10:26:34 AM #
Does anyone have any details on the bug in the T series that this patch is designed to fix? To be honest, this is the first I've heard of it and Sony's explanation of the bug is a bit cryptic.

well, the CompUSA on 37th and 5th is out of them...none in stock.

Ditto for the one on Broadway and 57th.

So Manhatten shoppers are out of luck.

CompUSA has a history of offering these deals, only to have the customer arrive at the store to see that they're already out-of-stock.

I arrived at my local CompUSA yesterday when they opened and was informed that they were out. Since they say "limited to stock on hand," they aren't guilty of false advertising--their stock on hand is zero. Of course, they found a store 45 minutes away that had 2 units in stock. But rather than drive that far, I headed 5 minutes down the road to my local Costco, where they offer a bundle of the N610C + slim case for $280. That combo would cost $10 more at CompUSA, so I went after that deal. If you're near a Costco, you can probably get that deal. They may also be offering it at Costco.com.

If you go to CompUSA's page for the N610C, you can put in your ZIP code and get a list of the stores nearest you and whether they have any available. Of the 5 stores listed for me, four had them in stock. Still, it wouldn't hurt to call ahead and be sure. They might even hold it for you.

Support?

Wow - this is great. An S360 on steroids, albeit low-grade. Any worry that Sony won't support this since the model is being put on the wayside?
