Sony Support

Who says Sony doesn't support their products?

Ok, so maybe they only support it if they know they screwed something up themselves... but hey, it's better than nothing.

Oh, thanks for telling us that Sony "only support" something only when "they screwed something up," and, yes, we know "it's better than nothing."

Wow. Someone pissed in your cornflakes this morning.

The guy was just stating that at least Sony's still supporting their products from a bug-fix standpoint... I mean, with all the people complaining that Sony has no support when it comes to upgrades, this was a surprisingly non-negative comment towards the company.

Anybody notices that there's a world out side of US? LoL .. US ppl have bad Sony support's because US ppl's laziness acting up, it got nothing to do with sony's product.

There's a world outside the US? ;)

Oh, of course, it couldn't possibly be Sony's inept support that is at fault! The problem has to be those lazy Americans!

So, what country would you be from that is so much greater than us?

Yikes. A yankee pride flame war starting up here.

Face it, work ethics in North America are unbelievably different than any other region in the world.

Companies in North America have to pay big bucks just to have an employee sit on their butt, answer a minimum of 3 phone calls per hour, take a minimum of 2 fifteen minute coffee breaks, and a minimum 45 hour lunch, and have them take off 20 minutes early to beat traffic.

Sony is probably spending twice as much per employee in North America, and getting about half the productivity. Working out the math, that means they'd have to spend four times more than their Japanese counterpart to get equal performance... and I think that's a generous assessment. Yikes.

"have to spend four times more than their Japanese "

Give it a rest, Tojo. With the Japanese economy in the toilet maybe *you* should get off your ass and start working your way out of it before Sony moves *all* their factories to China.

I.M. Anonymous @ 2/16/2002 11:11:42 PM #
Actually Japanese won't move their plants to anywhere, you see most of those japanese companies make their stuff in Japan, it's a cultural thing.

Unless you can provide the service 50% or more cheaper than what they can get in Japan, otherwise they'll not move their plants. They are not like those cash hungry American that moved like 98% of their factories to China and Taiwan, so all they do in US is put on the Brand sticker.

Where is OS 4.x for the S300, S320 and N710C?

RE: Sony Support
I.M. Anonymous @ 2/17/2002 12:34:14 AM #
OS 4.1 for N710C is available you numb nut. cost $50.

As for the s300/s320 rom is too small to fit it.

RE: Sony Support
I.M. Anonymous @ 2/17/2002 1:05:17 AM #
Actually, the S320 comes with OS4 by default...

Americans work the longest hours among industrialized countries, Japanese second longest. Europeans work less.

According to recently released report from the International Labour Organization in Geneva, Americans spend about 2,000 hours at work annually. UK workers spend about six weeks less on the job, but they are on the job far more than their European counterparts. Amaricans work about ten weeks more than German workers and two eight weeks than the French.

Sony has offered some new updates for the CLIE. Wasn't that what we're talking about?

"Actually Japanese won't move their plants to anywhere"

Not to beat a dead horse, but Sony makes all their first generation PlayStations in China. Plans are on the table now to begin making PS2's in China as well.
And Sony is just one of many Japanese firms that have opened manufacturing facilities in China. Sorry, dude. but the Made in Japan electronics mystique is quickly evaporating. Might want to put in some longer hours.

"OS 4.1 for N710C is available you numb nut. cost $50."

Let me know when it's cheaper, and you don't have to send your unit away to get it. Ridiculous!

I hate to take this bait, but I'm an American and I work nearly fourteen hours a day, and hardly slow down for anything. I went back this weekend to see if I could get more done and nearly every office in my building was full of people doing the same. Is this the American work ethic you're talking about? Or did you get your ideas from movies and television? I, for one, wouldn't know - I don't get time to watch.

SCSI driver???

I.M. Anonymous @ 2/16/2002 11:24:49 PM #
Why is Sony mucking around with the SCSI drivers?

RE: SCSI driver???
bcombee @ 2/17/2002 12:32:31 AM #
Sony's drivers let you mount the CLIE's memory stick as a extra hard drive. To do this, they make the memory stick appear as a SCSI drive, supporting SCSI commands over the USB connection.

it's not a SCSI driver pre se.. like ide/scsi.

i don't know why but they call it a scsi driver for their ms import driver.

RE: SCSI driver???
Carlis @ 2/17/2002 6:13:37 PM #
Are there any way to get the card in a M505 to show up as a hard drive ..? As on a sony .. ?

I.M. Anonymous @ 2/17/2002 7:22:18 PM #
Just got my 128 MemStick and tried the USB plug n'play "external" drive, works nicely and faster than my CDRW, it pops up as another drive in My Computer. I didnt need to install any driver or even hotsync!
sweeet!!

Just to be different...
