The Handspring CFO is resigning for "personal reasons?" Right.

Actually, I heard that he was going blind. Yeah, he just can see the company ever making any money.

Senior managers of all types of companies use the same lame excuse "I have worked in the (fill here) industry for the last 10,000 years and would like to take a break and reaquaint myself with my family and dog, who I have totally ignored in favor of clawing my way up the corporate ladder. By the way, I am 42 years old and am open to any company offering me a CEO, CFO or President title." The translation is that he or she feels that the company is running into the ground and is bailing out right before the S... hits the fan. This is sad because it hurts the employees and stock holders. Just talk to any stockholders od Palm or Handspring stock.

Or it could be he is being forced out?

actually he says he wanted to spend more time with his family. I don't blame him. With that much work an stress, who wouldn't? Besides i think he worked 22 years in the technology world.

They're not free, first they are $5.00, then they want my e-mail address so they can sell it to who knows who, and then they want shipping. OK, to anyone interested I have a US Robotics Palm Pilot 5000 that is free, just send me $24.95 for shipping and and the box and insurance and lets see the gas to get it to the Post Office, oh yeah and I won't sell your e-mail address to anyone, I promise

1 - As it says in the article, you need to use the "FREESP" coupon code to get it for free.

2 - Did you miss the "Order without account" link that allows you to skip sending them your email address?

I knew I'd forgotton something when I hit post...

Yeah - they want you to give them your email address in the order screens - but if you're that worried... just use a fake one or one for spam only...

It's according to what you mean by ''free'' :-0

LiveFaith @ 5/3/2002 10:35:42 AM #
FYI, the screen protectors may be free but shipping is a whopping $7 on a 1/2 ounce pack of screen protectors, 5-7 day version. Geeeesh, you would think they were transporting em' on Air Force One and having Dubya deliver it personally.

The site is excruciatingly slow even in broadband? At least right now.

As near as I can tell, the shipping charge is the same if you order 1 or 20 and the price is the same too: Free. So stock up and still pay $7. If you haven't made yourself a HotMail account only for Spam, it's high time you did.

Seven bucks is a little steep. I just received a complete screen (glass, digitizer, video board) for my daughter's Palm from GetHighTech, and the shipping was only $3.90 with delivery confirmation on an item which is much heavier than screen protectors. Seems like they could drop the protectors in an envelope.

Just bought a new pack of WriteRight protectors a couple days ago, so I guess I'm not in the market at the moment. They have a new version for the M5xx series which no longer has the vertical lines, making them less noticable than the prior version.

Yea but what do you have to lose for $7.00?! If your concerned about them selling your email address just use one that you rarely use. I got a pack of screen protectors and a quattro Pen/Stylus for $12.00, not a bad deal. And if I get ripped off, big deal I lost a whole $12.00.

I have had good luck with this guy: www.screenprotector.com. I was able to get CompanionLink screen protectors from him for under $11 with free shipping. Franklin-Covey sells these same ones for about $20.

I love CompanionLink. They are crystal-clear and without texture, just like using nothing at all and last forever.

I would make sure you are getting CompanionLink before you order from this guy. His page currently shows a pic of the Belkin protectors that are textured like WriteRights.

Hope this helps!

I made my own by using the clear overhead projector film. I cut one out as a template and then make a dozen or so at a time. just make them a little bigger than he viewing area on you PDA and slide it under the glass, it's def cheaper.....
RE: ref free
popko @ 5/3/2002 12:59:22 PM #
I used to do the same. One projector films could be made into about 9 screen portectors. But the projector films are very easy to get scratched and I need up using up 9 of them in two months of time.

Bartman007 @ 5/3/2002 5:32:48 PM #
I've done that too, it works great. But I had a little bit of trouble with the screen protectors getting dirty too quickly. Maybe I was just using the wrong type of overhead sheet, but it is definetly cheaper than buying premade ones.

I.M. Anonymous @ 5/3/2002 5:19:40 PM #
When you select what type of payment, you can type it in.

BTW - $7 for Screen protectors is still a lot better than $25 WR's go for in the stores...

Trouble accessing the site...

Bartman007 @ 5/3/2002 5:34:51 PM #
I click the link for the free screen protectors but I get this error:

Configuration Error: The directory configured as mivaroot references a symbolic link
Please contact the server administrator: webmaster@localhost

Oh well, hopefully it will be fixed. or... it's my fault =)

After entering my address info, I kept getting DNS error from IE. I'm rather suspicious of this site.

I.M. Anonymous @ 5/6/2002 12:51:56 PM #
Went through the checkout process and the only payment type I got was American Express. Did not create an account.

Is that the only payment option?

RE: Only take American Express?
I.M. Anonymous @ 6/7/2002 3:51:51 AM #
no - you clicked twice on the continue button -
go back and only click one time - they take visa, m.c. and amex - good luck -same thing happened to me - j.t.
