SD Version Of Presenter-to-Go Coming Soon

Margi Systems has announced that it will release a version of its Presenter-to-Go presentation tool that connects to the handheld through the SD slot. It will allow presentations created in PowerPoint or any printable Windows application to be transferred to a handheld and displayed at 1024 by 768. The SD card version of Presenter-to-Go will be available sometime in June for $200.

It comes with an SD Card/cable to connect to the handheld, software for slide creation from PowerPoint or any printable Windows application, and the MARGI Mirror for displaying local handheld content. Also included is a 14-button infrared remote control, an A/C adapter, and a projector adapter cable.

According to Margi Systems, it is compatible with the Palm m125, m130, m500, m505, m515, and i705. It is not yet known if the rumored Treo 90 will be able to use it.

"By offering Margi Systems' Presenter-to-Go SD Card-based solution to Palm handheld users, we are offering our customers the ability to walk into any environment, be it a meeting or classroom, plug their Palm handheld into the projector and immediately begin presenting. The convenience offered by Presenter-to-Go is what our corporate professionals and educational customers have been looking for to easily present on the go," said Ken Wirt, Palm vice president and senior vice president of Marketing, Solutions Group.

Margi Systems already has other versions of Presenter-to-Go, including one for the Visor line and another for the HandEra 330.

On Friday, Portsmith announced it would be releasing a similar presentation tool this summer that works with Palm's Universal Connector.

Yes, that would make PERFECT sense. Sony has bundled a trial version of Presenter-to-Go viewing software with the T-series and NR-series Clie's. I think this software simply works like DataViz's Slideshow-to-Go, but I would also think that it's a precursor to an MS-based PTG module. The Margi remote could take advantage of the enhanced IR port on the Sony, and I would think Margi Mirror could take advantage of the Hi-Res and Hi-Res+ screens.

I would suggest that the SD-based module is primarily due to the large base of Palm users who have been clamouring for something they can use. The old Springboard version required a Visor, and now that seems like an insane purchase to make.

So good going, Margi Systems, and keep it up by releasing an MS version SOON.

Minor addition: The CF version not only works in the HandEra 330, but the TrgPro as well, minus the ability to display in landscape mode and display card (SD/MMC) based presentations.
