Problems with installation

dickius @ 2/21/2005 3:39:52 PM # Q
I installed this on my VZW Treo 600, and it sent the phone into an infinite reset loop. (The Palmone website has instructions on what to do when this happens, but they didn't work for me.) I'm awaiting support from PalmOne. Don't know if this is happening to others.

fyi.

it is always best to hard reset the device (after you do a sync).
create a temp name.
sync the update.
apply the update.
Hard reset the device.
when you sync, pick the old name.

The infinite resets is happening to me, too. I guess I'm going to have to slowly install things back on one-by-one. What a crappy update.

I identified the problem files after much trial and error. It's the wireless sync software (SyncClient.PRC, SyncFWDB.PDB, and SyncMail.PRC). Do a hard reset, trash these three files (or put them someplace safe), restore everything else, then reinstall Wireless Sync, and you should be good to go. In the meantime, since Verizon was unable to help me with my problem, they have sent me a new (or maybe refurbished?) Treo 600, which should arrive tomorrow. Should I stick with the one I have, or transfer everything over to the new one?
