Pre Phone Slider Patch Pacesets For Palm

And since the rest of the Internet is running with it, it seems only appropriate that PIC does as well: KeyToss have released a patch for the Palm Pre that lets you hang up the phone by closing the slider. It's installable via either Preware or WebOS Quick Install, and costs you nothing. Simple. The real question here is "why wasn't this an option on the Pre in the first place?" Seinfeld made the point about the satisfaction of a physical hangup years ago... and we've embedded him after the break.

I saw Seinfeld do standup last year in AC. He actually revived that old joke, except instead of talking about a cordless phone, he talked about, what else, the iPhone.

He's still got it, by the way. If you ever get the chance, go see him.

Yup, saw him years ago in the village on one of those golden nights where he was just around, took the mike after someone didn't show and went at it.

As far as the disconnect call on close. I would bet good money that one of the original beta trails had this feature in it already. Some user interface "expert" that never wrote a line of code in their life wanted it out since would be too "confusing or unexpected."

While there are very good UI people in the business. Some "product experience" types are one step away from snake oil sales.
