Comments on: Grants to Study Palm Use in Classrooms
Palm Inc. will, obviously, provide the hardware and SRI International will conduct a research program to determine best practices and to assist teachers, hardware and software designers, and policy makers in considering the future widespread use of Palm handhelds in the classroom.

RE: Useless
School Events: central sync locations can be set up for students to reecive info about school events, raising school spirit in a time when it seems to me to be at an all time low.
Grades/Progress Reports: central sync of current progress reports and communication logs with the parents
Science & Math: With the addition of a few inexpensive peripheral devies like motion detectors and science probes, the Palm is ideal for experiential learning.
Computer Science: new classes in Palm programming to replace or augment the current offerings in C and C++.
Ask a teacher what they think. THey may have even more ideas once you explain the power of the Palm to them.
Just my .02
It could help..Hmm maybe not.

Useless
I really don't see what this can give kids that those free agendas that they give out at the beginning of the year can't.
