Palm assuring its survival

CKMOOSE @ 11/9/2000 3:07:06 AM #
Palm seems to have a good grasp on what makes a platform succeed or fail and are expanding on it.

Your primary hardware is only as good as the software and peripherals. Supporting your developers is the best way to assure your longevity.

It also keeps Palm's risk factor low. By assisting developers, they get more product to market with less initial risk.
It's very smart to help a company get a product out and reap the rewards of the successful ones and not take the financial hit for the failures.

The Stowaway Keyboard being a prime example. Think Outside developed and market tested it. Palm adopted it, branded it and both companies benefitted. Very smart.
I don't think Palm is out of the game yet as some on this board have predicted.

Like blank sleds for V's and empty modem cases for III's, etc. Blank hotsync cables that you could use to connect your Palm to your Tivo (whoo hoo), etc. CAD files for the cases, blank cases...
