Comments on: $100 Rebate on Palm VIIx
Palm has avoided heavily marketing the VII series until now because of component shortages. Those are easing, however, and Palm is clearly ready to start seriously pushing this wireless model.

RE: The problem is...
Sure, there are folks that want more... but the main target audience is really pretty satisfied with the nice small package. Even Palm's own Mobile Internet Kit, while it works and is nifty... is a tough sell next to the all-in-one box that is the VIIx.... especially if all you need is access to your e-mail.

I am capable of FULL BROWSING (black and white, but still full) and seeing PICTURES on my "simple" palm device.
Microsoft says palms can only do text browsing. That is lie #1. I can see any picture.
Microsoft says palms can't enter most website. Its a lie, I can enter 90% of the sites out there.
And with ms agent, I can send/receive mail.
I don't see pocket pc's advantages!.
But I insist that palm is stupid to release 2 new palms (IIc, M100) that will have a 1 year life span.
RE: The problem is...
You can find a PQA for just about anything you could want. Proxiweb can give you a decent web-browse experience. The network is *far* more stable than other wireless networks I have had the misfortune of working with.
The Palm VII series works. You can find more "feature packed" devices, but this Palm delivers.

The problem is...
Including proxiweb, ms agent (much better than multi-mail) and giving the VII the possibility to use a regular ISP (is that possible?) would make it the bomb.
Having to pay for a new wireless ISP and being limitied to web clipping make the VII an expensive IIIxe with an antenna.
