Comments on: InfraReady Adapter Introduced

Bachmann Software & Services, developer of PrintBoy, has introduced the InfraReady Adapter, a pocket-sized device that lets users convert any printer to accept infrared beaming of documents from Palm Powered handhelds. Together with PrintBoy, users can wirelessly “beam” their documents to a printer. It is available now for $56.

 InfraReady Adapter Mini Review
Ed @ 4/18/2001 6:56:37 PM #

They sent me one of these when I was doing the PrintBoy review and it's pretty cool. It is a rectangular block that plugs into the parallel port that has a long cord connecting to a small IR port that looks like its from one of those Martian ships from War of the Worlds. My desk space is limited and my printer is down on the ground so I just put the IR port on my desk. If you have a printer at home without an IR port, which I think describes many of you, this will let you print at home, which I think you'll find very convenient.

If you are a Mac user, you'd better make sure your printer has one of those big parallel ports that Windows machines use.

It's not a very good one, due to the limitations of my digital camera, but here it is:

I spoke to the company today, and they will be posting a picture soon. I have the model from extended systems and am awaiting this as an alternative because of size
