Some are even using wireless handhelds to get the up-to-the minute information they need to make better-informed decisions more quickly while working in the field. Officers are getting information about suspects, vehicles, guns and even using their handhelds to keep track of evidence.

Law enforcement has been using PDA's for years. DDH (HanDBase) has had a Law Enforcement section in their free applet gallery for some time now. There are several that have uses beyond law enforcement. One of my favorites was posted 02/08/2000 from Randy B called BiteOutOfCrime.
