The BackFlip email service from PocketScience seen here before is now shipping according to their press release. The PocketMail BackFlip is a small hardware device that snaps on to the back of the Palm organizer. It allows users to send and receive e-mail or fax messages from any landline or wireless phone in the world, including digital CDMA, TDMA and GSM phones, without the need for a phone jack, cradle or cable. The BackFlip is only available for purchase through the PocketMail Web site at for $99. Unlimited PocketMail service goes for $9.95 a month.

I use this with a Palm III... and it's great. It is certainly the next best thing to wireless, and better in some ways, as you don't have to worry about going over your quota.
