Comments on: Will the DOJ Investigate Palm?
According to a ZDNet article, at a recent House Judiciary Committee meeting, Rep. Joe Scarborough, R-Fla., asked Assistant Antitrust Chief Joel Klein if the DOJ had any new "targets" for future investigations in mind, and named as a possibility Palm Inc. Klein responded that only a few companies are likely to be subject to antitrust scrutiny now or in the future.

Are you completely out of touch with reality?
After the AOL-Time Warner merger.... worse monopoly than Microsoft ANYDAY.
RE: Is this guy brain-dead, or what?
I think you folks are missing the point. As the article points out, Rep. Scarborough was clearly hostile towards the DOJ case against Microsoft, and the question about AOL and Palm was meant sarcastically.
only before they buy their next pda...
Ha! If Palm of all people gets hit I'll know all that's left in Washington are rats grabbing the last crumbs of cheese on a sinking ship.
Anti-trust against Palm in 2000/01 is akin to targeting Netscape in 1996. Or Apple in 1991.
That story sounds like Microsoft trying to put a negative spin on our DOJ's antitrust powers. "Look out! It'll be a domino effect of prosecutions!"
No, I didn't buy that about Vietnam, either.

What we are sseing is some mean spirited goverment hack lawyers, who apparentl;y look at their oeers in real companies, earning real money and decide, well, if I can't be in that situation its wrong and I'm going to abuse power and twist laws to bring these companies to their knees.
If you have a product and are sucessful in capturing market share , the lesson is you'd better not be too successful, because the DOJ has declared war on the free enterprise system in America

The Sad Thing.
The sad thing is that I am almost inclined to believe this. Not that I think that it will happen, but that our Government has the power and will to over regulate, mismanage, and try to socialize, commerce.
..and we keep electing these people, oh well, who is John Galt?
