Comments on: Palm Discontinues the WebPro Browser Proxy

Palm Discontinues the WebPro Browser ProxyWord comes to us via TamsPalm, that Palm has just discontinued the default web proxy for the older WebPro 1.x, WebPro 2.0, and nWeb Palm OS web browsers. Palm simply says the "WebPro and nWeb proxy technology has reached the end of its useful life and cannot be upgraded."

The shutdowns mainly affect users of the Treo 300, 270, 180, 180g smartphones and VisorPhone product. The Tungsten T3 handheld also used a version of Web Pro, but can function fine without the proxy by enabling the proxy-less mode. Palm is recommending the Palm OS 3.5 compatible PocketLink browser (last updated in 2002) as a replacement.
