If you think that M$ ActiveSync is the answer, then think again. ActiveSync is plagued with problems. Go to any of the PPC messageboards if you want to see the evidence. Here is an example: http://pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=36498 This is not a recent phenomenon. The ActiveSync problems have been evident for several years. Use it at your own risk. RE: No comments at all?
The first poster isn't referring to the legacy ActiveSync/PC sync protocol - he's referring to what will likely be the death knell for all the middleware guys like RIM, Good, Visto, Intellisync, et al - the ability for devices to connect and wirelessly sync all theire email, PIM data, etc DIRECTLY to an Exchange2003 server. No need for the BES, eventually. This is a common misunderstanding, due to Microsoft's crazy product naming schemes. RE: No comments at all?
As many many people will tell you, just because its not the best does not mean it wont win. All the Mac fans, all the Palm fans and all the Betamax fans will all say the same thing. Not that I think Palm is the best.... but some people do. Surur RE: No comments at all?RhinoSteve @ 4/4/2005 3:38:33 PM #
Not being the best and winning is one thing. Being totally useless is something else.

Guys, this is real. Its no April Fools Day joke.

Following Symbian’s announcement just last week that they will be licensing Microsoft’s ActiveSync, DataViz Inc. has just done the same. DataViz a provider of Office compatibility software intends to incorporate Microsoft’s ActiveSync into their RoadSync software. It will provide non-Microsoft smartphones and other mobile devices with direct, over-the-air, secure synchronization with corporate Outlook e-mail and personal information management data, such as calendar and contacts. Expect to even see more of these announcements in the next year or two when more companies try to position themselves to take some of RIM’s lucrative share of the push-email market.

When blackberry does a Netscape Activesync will be the new corporate standard. This wont leave much space for good ole hotsync (and palm).
