Comments on: Palm Announces Microsoft Mobile Device Manager 2008 Support

Palm today announced that it will make the Palm Treo 750 smartphone compatible with Microsoft System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008, to deliver increased security and easier phone management, as well as access to information on the corporate network. Palm says IT professionals will be able to manage large Treo 750 deployments with features such as policy enforcement, inventory and reporting, and software targeting.

Mobile Device Manager is a new management solution that enables efficient control of Windows Mobile phones, such as the Treo 750 smartphone, by providing reliable, low-cost consistent manageability within a company's existing Microsoft infrastructure.

Or is "2nd half calendar 2008" the delivery schedule for that, too?

Let's worry about the problems at hand...

Why don’t we start with the commitments that have already been promised to current 750 customers? Vis-à-vis the Windows Mobile 6 update for the Treo 750. All official and rumored release dates made public to the Treo community have come and gone, and not one simple announcement from Palm or its USA providers commenting on the delay. As if we aren’t all staring the pink elephant dead in its face! This new announcement is a laugh; why should we trust that such new implementations coming in 2008 will be supported properly when then can’t even address the public with already neglected issues.
