It's about time Motorola acquired good technology.

haha.

And when will NTP be filing their lawsuit against MOT/Good? Lots more cash available now :)

Good already licensed the technology from NTP

Who needs expensive gadgets, give me a pencil and some post-its. Added benefit, perfect handwriting recognition.

Yeah, I couldn't remember if NPT had already done their shakedown routine on Good. If they hadn't, I figured it was Good's way of hedging their bets. Moto likely has an outstanding legal team and definitely has the money to outlast NPT in a drawn out case. Meanwhile, Moto finally gets some good development in-house, which it desperately needs. So a win-win for the two companies.

Having licensed from NPT, though, I'm not sure what the motivation on Good's part is. Maybe Moto will choose to tell NPT to piss off once the merger is complete.

Well it still doesn't explain NTP's suing Palm.

If Palm can licence Good and Blackberry Connect software and then still get sued by NTP, even though the RIM agreement covers Connect partners, and many of the patents have already been invalidated, by the same logic, Moto is at risk for manufacturing hardware in the same vein as Palm. regardless of Moto's resources, the settlements have been for outrageous amounts of cash.

Yeah it'll be interesting to see what NTP argues. One would assume that it must be something to do with VersaMail since the other solutions are 3rd party ones that NTP could go after directly. It doesn't make any sense that using the standard POP and IMAP protocols that every email client under the sun, wireless and otherwise, have been using for many many years.

Hopefully if it does go that direction NTP will get tossed out of court on their heads.

Motorola apparently is on a buying spree. Now Netopia.

It'll be very interesting to watch where this is going...

[no, I'm not of the belief that PALM is a MOT target, but stranger things have happened - like MOT trying to buy PSRC]
