Comments on: Palm Treo 700wx Available Soon on Alltel

Palm Windows Mobile Treo 700w ~ Click for largerEngadget Mobile is reporting that the Treo 700wx, will be available shortly on the Alltel Wireless network. The 700wx, Palm's most recent Treo for CDMA networks, mainly differs from the earlier 700w by doubling the device's RAM to 64mb and incorporating some minor OS tweaks. Interestingly enough, the Engadget article claims that the Alltel version of this Treo will have a slightly newer version of Windows Mobile (5.2) vs. the 5.1.19 seen on Sprint's version of the 700wx.

Alltel's pricing is expected to be $350 with two-year contract. To date, Verizon is still offering the older Treo 700w with 32mb of RAM, though rumors of the 700wx's release for Verizon have been circulating lately.

Alltel actually started selling the 700wx on Dec 7 both in stores and online. Pricing is correct although it is $449 upfront with a $100 mail-in rebate.

 What about 700p?

I'm impressed with how Alltel is rolling out EVDO all over the country. Was hoping they'd offer the 700p as well. Has anybody heard if this is on the horizon?

The unofficial word on Howard Forums is that both the 700p and the Motorola Q will be available on Alltel sometime in January. Both have apparently been delayed in order to iron out software issues.
