DialByPhoto is a new application from Gx5 for your Treo lets you speed dial your favorite acquaintances that you call regularly with photos. Rather than always searching through your contacts or trying to remember some speed dial code, DialByPhoto lets you instantly call these individuals using their beautiful photos or people icons, saving you time and making the experience super enjoyable.

The app replaces the usual Treo phone app, while still leaving it available. It also includes some nice call management features including Ignore by SMS and a built in list of predefined SMS responses. There are also numerous ways to customize the layout, behavior and wallpaper of the app.

DialByPhoto v0.988 is available now for $9.95 while it is still in its beta period. It includes a free trial as well. It is compatible with the Treo 650, 680 and 700p.

But I prefer the new 680 Phone app. Problems with this beta:

1) you have to manually add each contact to the speed dial - tedious!

2) When you click Contacts or Call log, it will kick you back out into the standard Phone app to view them from there, rather than listing them itself.

Looks great though.
