MTS and Zero Gravity have announced an Internet connection and other wireless services for Palm Canada customers throughout most of Manitoba. The new service, also called Zero Gravity, allows high level, wireless access to the Internet, full e-mail service, and customized, web-based content services. It runs on MTS's wireless data CDPD network which covers about 85% of the population of Manitoba and over 95% by July. Palm Chief Operating Officer Alan Kessler said Wednesday in an interview with The Nihon Keizai Shimbun that his company intends to release before July in Japan a new wireless device developed with NTT DoCoMo Inc. This was originally announced last September. The new Palm will be able to instantly access the Internet just like the i-mode connection service for mobile phones from DoCoMo, Kessler said, adding that users of the device will be able to exchange e-mail and view specially designed content. Japanese online broker E+Trade Japan KK said today it will offer online services on these new handhelds.
