SkipWire has announced partnerships with key companies to provide Palm enthusiasts with the ability to wirelessly build and access a personal library of online e-books and e-texts for wireless reference from a Palm. They have signed agreements with Qvadis, McGraw Publishing, and DiskUs Publishing.

A MySkipWire account, a free secure service, remembers which eTexts and eBooks have been placed in a personalized account. MySkipWire retains the collection, allowing a verified user device to wirelessly add, and delete selections instantaneously. DownStream, a free program, provides users with the ability to download programs wirelessly.Users can delete data and programs that aren’t being used, and download them again at a later time, keeping device memory clear.

Deen Ferrell, VP of Business Development for SkipWire, says, “Palm users are no longer tethered to the desktop cradle sync for browsing, downloading, and purchasing eBook content. SkipWire is committed to providing the best eBook references available for wireless Palm enthusiasts. We are determined to give our customers the unique tools to create a personalized, easily accessible library of online content.”

The following partnerships are helping SkipWire make this possible:

The SkipWire service allows our users virtually unlimited memory, allowing them to delete old e-texts and to download new e-texts anywhere they are, unconstrained by the physical memory of their device."

McGraw Publishing Inc.: A company that was founded by writers for writers, McGraw Publishing will offer wireless access through SkipWire to their unique library of e-books with a special focus on women and children. The titles represent an attentive, personal approach to publishing.

DiskUs Publishing: With an extensive library of electronic and audio books for adults and children, DiskUs Publishing sees its partnership with SkipWire as a way to present their award-winning, best selling authors and e-books to a new brand of tech-savvy mobile executives -- marrying the best in technology with the best in reading material.

I think this is great! I'm just about to get a modem cable and a cellular phone so that I can go wireless, and now that I'm not in school anymore, I can get alot of reading done! And now I can read war & peace online! COOL!

Does anyone know how big these are? Would it be worth it to buy a VII with 2 mb as an Ebook reader and email machine for a college student (assuming light usage)
