WolfenStein 3D update!

James McCombe has been working hard developing a Palm version of the classic nazi shoot-em-up, WolfenStein 3D, seen here before. In his latest update the project has taken a whole new direction and promises to be a very exciting game for the Palm platform. He has renamed the game to Doomling and is implimneting some great new features such as IR deathmatch, a PC level editor and high quality greyscale graphics. It even has features that cause it to surpass the limits of original Wolfenstein 3D for the PC! Read all about it and check the screenshots here.

A Mousepad for Palm Organizers?

InfoGraphics announces the release of an innovative mousepad to be used with Palm Organizers -- the PalmIT Mousepad.
"The PalmIT Mousepad is a unique design which allows Palm Organizers to be conveniently and securely positioned near the user's desktop PC," says pad developer Dale Foster. Most organizers are used with a desktop personal computer on a daily basis. The PalmIT Mousepad provides a comfortable and convenient holder for handheld computers right at the user's fingertips. It allows for easy viewing of the organizer while synchronizing data with the PC.

Color Palm By Next Summer?

In the middle of a perpetually crowded booth at Comdex, pdamart had a conversation with Palm Computing's Director of Consumer Product Marketing, John Cook. In a discussion that touched on a variety of topics, he talked about when Palm might come out with a color device. "We don't feel in a compelling hurry to get there," Cook said. "Summer (2000) wouldn't be too late. If we can make it happen sooner we would."

Compaq considering other OS's

C|Net's rumor mill is at it again, this time claiming that Compaq is having serious doubts about Windows CE. The article claims they are "evaluating other operating systems" for their handheld line.

It's time for some quickies

SV.com claims the Sony deal is a slap in M$'s face. C|Net thinks that Sony might use the Palm OS to rival the Gameboy. If you were wondering what the heck a Sony memory stick is ZDNet has an explanation. Kettner's Palm and HandSpring clubs have moved to a new location. You will need to re-register, but registration is a quick 30 second process. The NPUG has a report from Comdex. PayPal.com is the latest attempt at a Palm e-wallet. And if there are any doctors in the house check out the newly updated app PatientKeeper.

Another Windows CE defector

As if the Sony deal wasn't enough, News.com has more bad news for the Windows CE platform. Manufacturer Everex became the latest defector from the Windows camp, as the company confirmed it has effectively discontinued its line of palm-sized PCs based on the Microsoft operating system. They also have a piece on the OmniSky service.
