PalmSource Grows in Scope and Size

In the past, PalmSource was the premier conference for Palm developers. It will still be that but Palm Inc. has just announced that the next one will also include two new components: a PalmSource Expo, where new hardware and software will be demonstrated to the public, and an Enterprise Seminar, to help large companies learn how to include Palm technology in their businesses.

PalmSource is scheduled for February 5 through 8 at the San Jose Convention Center. Registration is now open.

No matter what their area of interest is, all PalmSource attendees will be able to preview the next generation of the Palm OS running on ARM-compliant hardware.

PalmSource Expo
The new PalmSource Expo will be open to the public. Interested people will have the opportunity to see Palm Powered handhelds; smartphones; communicators; and a sampling of the most innovative travel, education, personal information management, communications, entertainment, health, lifestyle, hobby and game software available for any handheld platform. The Expo will feature two mini-theaters, a learning center where people can try various Palm OS devices and applications, and more than 100 exhibits. It will take place February 6 and 7.

Enterprise Seminars
PalmSource will offer the first Enterprise Seminar for executives seeking to use Palm Powered solutions to benefit their organizations. The keynote and sessions are designed to illustrate how to use mobile devices and wireless technology to connect enterprise information systems to a mobile work force.

The seminars will spell out current options and Palm's long-term vision for mobile solutions, including email, security, and access to the Internet and corporate intranets. Sessions from industry leaders will help attendees learn how they can realize bottom-line results. Case studies of well-known firms will illustrate how Palm Powered solutions have helped IT managers to improve business processes and achieve competitive advantages. The Enterprise Seminars will be February 5 and 6.

Developer Conference
But Palm hasn't forgotten about developers. This conference has been designed to provide developers and licensees with the in-depth product, feature and functionality information they need to build next-generation applications and devices based on the Palm OS. Special in-depth topics include core technologies of the Palm OS, expansion, wireless and security. Attendees also may participate in a variety of roundtable discussions and hands-on lab workshops, preview new tools and technologies and work with the experts in consulting clinics. The Developer Conference will last from February 5 through 8.

"More and more enterprises are embracing the Palm OS platform, and we're growing the PalmSource experience along with it to provide special programs for developers, decision-makers and users," said Gabriel Acosta-Lopez, senior director of Platform Development Services for the Palm OS subsidiary of Palm, Inc.
