Comments on: Bluetooth Momentum Growing, Despite Delays

BT_CombinationMark Allied Business Intelligence has released a study that indicates that the use of Bluetooth will continue to grow strongly over the next several years, desite what it refers to as "recent market delays". While they project that only 56 million Bluetooth-enabled devices will be sold in 2001, look for over 1.4 billion nodes by 2005.

Back in June, both Palm Inc. and Silicon Wave demonstrated Bluetooth wireless connectivity for Palm PDAs.

What a timely question. Here's a Wired article talking about a security flaw in Bluetooth:

http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,1282,38688,00.html

Markus Jacobson and Susanne Wetzel, researchers at Lucent's Bell Laboratories, recently realized that a Bluetooth device could be bugged so that its encryption key could be easily obtained by an intruder. It is also possible to obtain the identity of the device and trace the user's location.
