Comments on: Agreement on MyPalm.com Domain Soon

Cnet has a story that Palm and the owner of MyPalm.com are close to an agreement. The owner would keep his e-mail address but redirect the Web page to Palm's site.

This might already be a done deal. Since sometime yesterday, attempts to reach MyPalm.com have been redirected to Palm's page about its upcoming MyPalm portal.

I think Palm finally came around and handled this correctly. I'm guessing the large amount of bad press and angry message board posts on this issue had to have helped remind them that they need to be good corporate citizens.

Oh.. I can't help and wonder.... I would of charged .009 cents for every redirect that goes to Palm, (because of their hassel to me). I know it doesn't seem like much but, if you think of the thousands of hits, they hope to get a day.. it does add up at the end of the month.

But however it worked out.. I am glad to see that Palm is working with the guy..

Happy Ending?? No where have I read that this fellow received monetary benefits of any kind. Is this guy just going to give in to Palm (for the most part) and let them have the site? Technically, he still owns the site and is merely redirecting, meaning there should be some kind of royalty or licensing use. This is horrible.

No... if you read the article, Palm is paying the guy, but isn't disclosing how much.

Now only if they only played nice in the beginning of this episode, everyone wouldn't of have to get so upset. Things can have a happy ending as long as corporations don't go around stealing domains from good up standing consumers and just talk to them first!

If the guy owns the site, he should tell Palm to take a hike. Palm has no right to it because if they had done proper research in the beginning for available domain names this all could have been avoided.

Your right -- Palm had NO RIGHTS to this site -- If Pal tomorrow chose my companies name to call their next product then could they just come and take my URL..

PALM YOU SUCK--AND worst is that you treat your developers like bad meat to throw away -- No wonder Handsprings stock is worth twice as much as yours!

Palm actually has way more individual stocks in the market than Handspring does, 566.4 million vs. 126.8 million. At today's closing prices, Palm's market capitalization is $14.7 billion while Handspring's is $6.04 billion. In short, Palm is worth more than twice what Handspring is.
