This is totally unrelated but...

"Monster Pig kills Jesus
More at 11"

I just noticed this. Is this some kind of dig at Christianity or is it just that you have a poor sense of humour?

Try using a name related to another religion and then see how many complaints you get then.....

RE:Pig killing Jesus.
I.M. Anonymous @ 1/18/2001 12:11:31 PM #
If I could have a dime for every time I heard a Xtian telling people that followers of another religion are actually worshipping satan...
Try not to be so touchy about your myth figure, OK?

RE: yeah baby
I.M. Anonymous @ 9/19/2001 4:15:22 AM #
Please Dont try to have fun with any religion, each and every religion is very pure in its own sense.

People like you are making it difficult for others to respect each others religion.
If you dont respect the other's religious beliefs then I think you dont belong to any religion, you seem to be a secular person..but least you can do is hurt others feelings.

Hope you will understand it Thank You.

A well Wisher.

I bought the product on Monday, and I have been playing around with it all day today. It is very nice. I can get on the internet and i can sent short messages. I can go to www.palm.net and download all those pqas, very nice.

The phone is very clear. Thumbs up.

Hi, I have bought OhFish from an auction in Sydney Australia, I live here in Sydney. But the product did not come with the power adaptor. I cannot find what the voltage of the battery is in OhFish. Could you be so kind to let me know what the power adaptor voltage output is. I could find some other adaptor that can do the job as long as I find the right voltage. There is no OhFish representative in Sydney or in Australia.

Thank you,

Francis from Sydney

finally

I waited three weeks for this type of product to release and so far I have been impressed.

The form factor is niceeeeeeee!!!

i checked them out

ohlala @ 1/16/2001 7:10:35 AM #
i emailed Ohfish today, and they told me that they are charging $350 for the product...they are selling the product in taiwan, hong kong and signapore. however, they have not released the product in Europe.

I had to order the sled by credit card.. i'll let you guys know how it is...

RE: i checked them out
I.M. Anonymous @ 2/13/2001 3:37:22 AM #
Ordering by credit card is available now. When I asked them a month ago, they were still not available. Good improvement, I think this will bring even more customers to you!

awesome

awesome product. i bought one and i love it

when is it available?

Eston Bond @ 1/17/2001 6:07:54 AM #
when is the tri-band phone available? If it's anytime soon my Minstrel V plans might be cancelled.
RE: when is it available?
GregGaub @ 1/17/2001 11:40:23 AM #
If you've waited this long before getting a Minstrel-V, then I'd wait a little longer for the tri-band OhFish. I heard that it might be as soon as two months from now for the tri-band. Up to you, though. ;-)

RE: when is it available?
I.M. Anonymous @ 2/13/2001 3:42:43 AM #
Yeah! I think OhFish tri-band will be available in the US in less than 2 months time. I guess I can just get rid of my mobile phone once I get one of those.

best wireless modem

I.M. Anonymous @ 1/17/2001 6:47:47 AM #
I bought one and this is the best modem I seen so far

RE: best wireless modem
I.M. Anonymous @ 1/20/2001 1:17:14 AM #
I read all the postings on the Ohfish modem with great interest. I've been waiting for a device like this. I've been using a Minstrel V modem with the Omnisky service in the US. It has a data transfer rate of 19.6 kps but no voice capability. For all those who already own the Ohfish modem, is a 9.6 kps data transfer rate satisfactory? I understand that UbiNetics in the UK is releasing a similar modem with transfer rate up to 14.4 kps. Would those who are already using the Ohfish care to give us some feedback?

Nice product

jamesLin528 @ 1/17/2001 7:01:28 AM #
I am writing this comment on my ohfish cradle with palm v attached. This modem is nice, the form factor is actually thinner and lighter than it said on their website (in fact, lighter than the palm), it supports html, wap, and webclippings. Cool product. It's worth the price paid.

cool fish

I.M. Anonymous @ 1/17/2001 7:07:39 AM #
very nice and slick. Why aren't they selling in European's stores??? I had to order from their website.

better than Visor phone

I.M. Anonymous @ 1/17/2001 7:32:49 AM #
This thing is better than Visor phone. It carries less weight, the design and material used are much better. Go fish

RE: better than Visor phone
I.M. Anonymous @ 1/23/2001 2:43:37 AM #
The device is truely better than Visor Phone. However, do you think that the gsmphone application is too simple. I hope Ohfish could do some work on the application and more functionality.
I find that the application itself on VisorPhone is better.

RE: better than Visor phone
I.M. Anonymous @ 2/13/2001 3:50:37 AM #
I am an Ohfish user myself as well. At first I was kind of disappointed with their simple phone software, however they have been e-mailing with an updated version which I thought it worked quite well. They have also mentioned that there will be another release on March 1st where it will cell phone like functions. i can't wait for that. I think overall, I am just very pleased with their constant updating.

RE: better than Visor phone
I.M. Anonymous @ 3/7/2001 10:51:18 PM #
From the picture on ad, I don't think it comes with a speaker phone. This means you need to pick up phones like normal cell phones, or by the handfree cable. Risks might happen when you hold it near your head because HongKong OFTA (Office of the Telecommunications Authority) just suspended its Type Approval license on 06 March. I would guess this product was not officially certified, but used certification of other product. Check it out by yourself.

http://www.ofta.gov.hk/tec/hold.html

Notice of Suspension of Type Approval
(Certificate No. RF201008)

Having a reasonable ground to believe that the conditions for granting the type approval have been breached, the Telecommunications Authority decides to suspend the type approval of the equipment below :-

Manufacturer : Ohfish Communications Inc.
Brand Name : Ohfish
Type Number : Ohfish I G900/1800
Equipment : Handheld Portable Transceiver
Category : Digital Public Mobile (Cellular) Radio Service

With immediate effect, further sale of the equipment may be liable to an offence under Section 8(1)(C) of the Telecommunications Ordinance, Cap. 106

I finally received from ohfish cradle in my mail today, and the product is very nicely design.

The dial pad integrates with the phone existing phone book, and it is very easy to use.

I can take my palm v and this cradle and travel around Europe and always get access to internet and my existing email..

nice job fish!!

RS232 serial port...

GregGaub @ 1/18/2001 11:46:09 AM #
Their features list an RS232 serial port for accessories, but they don't mention if it can be put in the PalmV cradle or not. I know the other GSM sled can do that (allowing hotsync while still in the sled, as well as charging the sled) but can the OhFish do that too?
If not, how does the OhFish charge? Through a wall wart?
If you can leave the PalmV/x in the OhFish for charging and syncing and everything, then I can't see why this wouldn't be the ultimate accessory for the PalmV. If not, then it's a toss up with the other GSM sled, bringing the decision down to "Which is more important? Syncing/charging without removing the sled, or being able to make voice calls *without* a headset?"

I appreciate everyone's feedback!
-Greg

Has anyone in the States bought one of these?

I.M. Anonymous @ 1/18/2001 10:09:24 PM #
It sounds and looks like a great product but not a whole lot of educational info on their website. Any help and or direction for my own edification would be much appreciated.

Also for the 3-series ?

Phil from Belgium @ 1/20/2001 1:20:40 AM #
When will they make a gsm add on model for the populair Palm III (c) series?
It's alway for those "exclusive" V-series.

User feedback

I.M. Anonymous @ 2/3/2001 8:06:58 PM #
Would any of you lucky guys who already have the unit be kind enough to give us any technical feedback?
How does the charging work?
Is it possible to charge it through the Palm cradle?
Is the accompanying software any good?
Can it be operated by third party software?
etc.

And, has anyone gotten more news (or rumours) about the tri-band unit?

Anyone have the unit from Ubinetics? (Maybe it's not out yet?)

Please?

L.

Sorry, I can't tell you any more about the Ohfish phone but I can answer your last question.
Palm COO Alan Kessler's keynote at PalmSource Forum Europe 2001 included a demo of the forthcoming UbiNetics' GA100 GSM clip-on phone. The GA100's release date, which was originally scheduled for January 31, has slipped to March.

I bought the GSM sled from ohfish and so far the user experience is pretty good...

1) nice form factor
2) clear sound
3) internet access is faster than I expected
4) SMS functions

things that needs improvement
1) browser, it doesn't come with the browser, I had to go download avantgo and palmscape

2) not enough sofware included

RE: User feedback
I.M. Anonymous @ 2/13/2001 4:06:56 AM #
OhFish finally has its name for the device. I only realized it when I received the device through ordering, and I have been showing off with it among my collegues at work. Hoho!
Well Ohfish charges by using a charger that comes with it. I actually fin dit quite thoughtful of them since this is more of a device for people who travels a lot. I mean I do not bring my cradles around when I travel, why would i need it if I do not want to bring a computer while traveling. Well I guess it's different for everyone.
I think what i like about the product is that I originaly used the MIK by Palm through infrared. However with the infrared, it is not as convenient as it looks to be. Well my point is that I can use the MIK software along with the OhFish V51 by changing some of the simpe settings, so I get to keep my original information.

I am one of the user of the Ohfish V51. I bought it on 16-Jan-01, and I've been facing a problem with the device as well as the comapny.

I've been informed after purchasing that the first log of the shippment is so call the pilot run unit. They didn't explained the meaning of that phase. However, they advise that since it is the pilot run unit, there will be a problem on the unit.

Problem 1. Caller has a Echo problem when they call to the unit.
Problem 2. bad connecton on the built-in ear jack socket.

They promised that a replacement will be made upon inspeced. Soon after they received they replied that the warrently seal is broken in which I am 100% sure the seal is perfectly Ok, and I didn't open the unit in any aspect or reason to do so. Anyway, their main purpose is to refuse the replacement as they promised before I send out.

Right now, I am forced to do whatever they said so, as my device is in their hand. I have been told that the device will be repaired for me, and kind enough to waive the repair charge.

What's a nice company they are!!!!

Does anyone has the problem mentioned above, or I am the only un-lucky one.

I don't know who you are. But yes, I am Simon but not working for any Palm-related Industry.

This is the comment on what I've been experience, and I hope someone could share my experience. If you need any prove on this issue, I am happy to forward one of the dealer working with Ohfish, in fact, they know the problem on this device as well.

I wonder you are the staff from Ohfish. Please don't try to cover up the mess you'd been created.
This would make the thing ever bigger and bigger.

ohfish available in Singapore airport duty free?

The ohfish GSM clip-on is not available in Europe and i wonder if it can be found at the Singapore airport.
Since I will be passing through by the end of the week (14-16 March), I wonder if you could post an answer as soon as possible. Thanks

It is not available in Singapore yet. And since its license has been sespended in Hong Kong, I think you can only buy it in Taiwan. You may try to order from ohfish web.

OhFish have announced the m50x version (tri-band) - I actually saw it at CommunicAsia in Singapore a few weeks back. It will be shipping soon I believe. They are also soon to announce the GPRS version - available towards the end of the year...! :-)
