I say that Palmgear is the best site for applications but for information Palm Infocenter is Winner! RE: Chat FeatureI.M. Anonymous @ 5/9/2001 10:48:18 AM #
I agree that PalmGear is a better site, but I would definitely change my decision to Palm Infocenter if it had a live chat feature (hint). That way, all of us obsessed Palm fanatics could have discussions in real time! RE:Chat FeatureI.M. Anonymous @ 5/9/2001 11:28:21 AM #
IMHO: I'm more in favor to posts, than chat. I've been on the web since '94, I just prefer to read the posts & reply when I like. I had no idea PalmGear had a chat section until now. And I still don't care :) Cheers RE: Hmmmm...
I second the notion about rewarding PalmInfocenter so much I finally decided to stop posting anonymously. Keep up the good work, guys. :) RE: Chat Feature
Thanks for the compliments!
We do have a live chat feature and it's been around for some time: http://www.palminfocenter.com/chat.asp It is basically and IRC web applet that connects to the #Palm channel on efnet.

I haven't been able to find this magazine on store shelves until finally this issue appeared at various boookstores. A good sign. :) Editor Denny Atkin was editor of Computer Games magazine before his obsession with his Visor (and the fact Handheld Computing is in Vermont just like CG magazine) led him away. :) On the other hand, Pen Computing, which I really enjoy reading has suddenly disappeared from the bookstores I used to find it at. RE: Finally found this mag on store shelvesI.M. Anonymous @ 5/9/2001 7:15:13 PM #
sometimes i have a hard time finding pen computing. It is best to look for it as soon as you know the new one is out. A week or so later it is impossible to find any issues.
OK, opinions are like, ah- er' Elbows! Everybody has at least 1.
I agree w/ some not others... Some of the catagories are so specific, the products are all alone anyway. On the other hand, "Best Replacement Application" is such a broad & sweeping catagory that it could be a separate contest all together. Datebk4 & Launch 'Em are like sushi to cottage cheese. Where is the contact management catagory? Isn't to manage our lives the first reason we laid down the cash for these precious units? Best Replacement Application WINNER: DateBk4, Pimlico Software FINALIST: Launch 'Em 2, Synergy Solutions I tried Datebk4 for nearly a month. Datebk4 doesn't FEEL right. I'm on the road ALOT so, I rely on my Palm to hadle my schedule, todos, & contacts. I've tried many other contact manager add-on's & always find myself going back to Action Names from Iambic. Although It feels simple, it's very robust. I can assign specific icons, link a name to an apointment, & schedule a follow up just like in Datebk4; But, AN just FEELS better. My opinions,

Are you kidding me? SplashPhoto kicks all these image viewer's butts when it comes to displaying photos on your handheld (esp. color photos on a Prism!!!)

Did anybody notice that the authors of the databases were all messed up? HanDBase=DDH, not Land-J! Hope it's not that way in the print article... RE: Database authors wrong
No, the original is correct but the article that was sent to me had them reversed. I've made the correction. Thanks. --- News Editor Palm Infocenter RE: Database authors wrongI.M. Anonymous @ 5/9/2001 10:19:06 PM #
Its still messed up.
"WINNER: ThinkDB, ThinkingBytes DDH Software should be with HANDBASE, not handmark...

There is no comparison btwn the Smartphone & the Visorphone. At best the Visorphone is a kludge. The Kyocera Smartphone is not only the best wireless device ever made, it is the best PalmOS device. Get a grip Handheld Computing!

Now I can agree about WordSmith, and I do think FireViewer is the best Image App there is, but I was a tad dissapointed. First off, the M105 as the runner up? The M105 is the one handheld by Palm I simply cannot love. Try the M500 or something, but not the M105!!
I dunno how old GoBar is, but I like how familiar its interface is. It does a good job of adding some windows and doodads while keeping the Palm simplicity. I also think comparing the VisorPhone to the Smartphone is like comparing oranges to apples. And finally, I find palmgear so-so. Great for software, but I think sites like visorcentral or palminfocenter should be up there. I think this awards bit is just a publicity act. For all it's worth, I could do a "PDA AWARDS 2001" bit myself!
Space trader is the best freeware game, only it takes a lot of space in the memory (200kb). But if you dont have it, you should defnetley download it!
I can only say that the m105 is an elegant little device, plenty powerful for my needs. Certainly, a power user might require the extra memory flash provides, but 8mb lets me have my dictionary, some books, slews of apps including a wordprocessor, several games...I've still got room to spare. It's good that there is a Palm device to make everybody happy : )
Why is it that you can no longer DL HHC from Peanut Press by using the number from your hard copy label?

For instance, Best Palm Web Site should have been Palm InfoCenter!!
