Comments on: Print from ThinkDB with PrintBoy Deluxe 3.0

Bachmann Software & Services has introduced PrintBoy Deluxe 3.0, which now works with ThinkDB by thinkingBytes, one of the most popular databases for the Palm platform. When used together, they can wirelessly print database views and even record details by simply beaming the files to an infrared (IR) enabled printer. PrintBoy Deluxe 3.0 is available now for $35.

This isn't news.

This, like a growing number of news stories (ababall, ebooks, pocket quicken, Noah, Palm User) is not news. It is more like a simple advertisement for a product, like a press release? Can the Editor honestly say he gets nothing for posting these stories?

I think something is news when Ed informs us that a product has just been updated with a new feature! SHEESH. There are some real idiots on this site.

well, you probably know all of staffs, but I still learned some news from this article. I mean, it is helpful for some of people who are still new in the Palm field.

Well, hate to burst your bubble but a 'Press Release' is by its nature news... its news about a new product feature, or service that a company wants the public to know about... thus the term 'press release'.

There are slow news days and big news days... press releases help keep things humming, sites showing that they are on top of things keeping their site updated with the latest greatest info available... some days it may be a bit slow... but Id still rather see the odd press release than nothing at all... Nothing at all makes ya think the sites dead (or the market is dead) and you go looking elsewhere for info on whats 'really' going on.

I think he's right. Why isn't this story in the quickies section? Because he gets paid for it, That's why.

Speaking of which I can already print from ThinkDB using the built in print function. I believe that PalmPrint gave me this feature...

Palming away.....
Shut up, you idiot

Hello, if you don't like Ed posting these news. Just quit coming on his site. No one is forcing you to read these "news". For rest of us, we still find these news to be very informational and helpful.

Thanks Ed for keep up a good work.

PrintBoy has been quite aggressive these days. I can understand their support to ThinkDB. But actually I would prefer PalmPrint more, since it has the widest printing support to 3rd party applications. I have been printing direct from HandBase long long time ago using PalmPrint.

I heard that PrintBoy only supports US paper size, not even A4, and it does not support PalmPix which I have to say is the coolest portable printer so far, and which PalmPrint provides support for.

I am not sure how TealPrint compares though, and would be glad if someone can run a comparison of PrintBoy vs PalmPrint vs IrPrint vs TealPrint. That will clear the sky.

I've got "news" for you cynical sorts...90% of the stuff you read comes from press releases. How do you think folks like Ed come about their information? Even traditional journalists rarely go out fishing for their own stories anymore. This place is the Palm Infocenter, where INFO like this SHOULD be put out their for us to see what's new and discuss how useful or useless it is. I like it. Keep it up Ed.

Great program but...

I recently bought a copy of printboy and I could not be more happy with the results. The only problem I find is that you have to install about 30 separate files in oreder for printboy to work. Isn't there some more elegant way to do this?

Ed-disregard the nays

I dont know about the rest of you guys/girls, but I personally do not have the time to browse around the web or stores searching for the latest palm software. I appreciate the info- news or otherwise, on this site cause I can read it from my palm like now, during a lunch break. I know when its a press release and I can determine whether a product is worth buying. Thanks Ed!

News is News

Regardless of the source, information of interest is always valuable and I, for one, appropriate it's being made available to me via Palm Info Center. Your comments are unjustified.
