Comments on: What to Expect from TechXNY

Personal computers have become such a small part of the PC Expo that it is no longer really called that. The new stars of TechXNY are the handhelds. Palm's CEO Carl Yankowski is giving the opening keynote address Tuesday morning on "Handheld Computing: Grass Roots to Corporate Standard". He is expected to talk about some new company partnerships but is rumored to be using the opportunity to unveil Palm's new mid-range model, possibly called the m300. Palm will have a full pavilion.

I'd pay for a bt card for my PDA if there was at least one or two applications I would use at least a few times per week. At the moment I can't imagine what that would be. I don't think I need to sync wirelessly to my PC; although, that could provide a luxury convenience.

Sony to Announce Two New CLIES
I.M. Anonymous @ 6/24/2001 11:21:00 AM #

The Cnet article link on TechXNY regarding mobile devices mentions Sony to announce two new CLIE handhelds. I am hoping one will be hi-res color and the other being hi-res b&w. Sony plans to have a "Family" of handhelds by the end of this year covering the low to high end called 300, 600, 700 and 800 series. I hope the high end will have a hi-res color screen and built in wireless capability.

Well, if they are going to announce the mid range Palm....
mondo @ 6/24/2001 8:32:49 PM #

Then they have been more tight-lipped about this one than the previous times.

It will be very interesting to see if they in fact do come out with a new device that will fill the space. I know a lot of people who will grab one of those rather than an m50x or the m10x.

Reiterate comments in another topic, lets hope they do stick with the Universal Connector and SD Card - it has to be the way to go, to keep the range consistent.

 Wouldn't it be more likely.....

That Palm introduces the so called m7xx series (VII replacement)?

Or are they still stocked up with VII's?
