"up to 256 MB" ???

I.M. Anonymous @ 6/25/2001 12:59:33 PM #
Pretec (a CF vendor) has just announced a 640MB solid-state CF module. So is the "256 MB" a limit of the adapter or the OS, or is this just what they thought was the max available in CF cards?

Looked at Pretec's site and it didn't say whether this was a Type I or Type II card. If it is a Type II, the MemPlug can't use it.

RE: Limits

The limits are divided in two categorys. Hardware and Software.
Hardware:
CF-card must be CF type I
Card must not use more power than Visor can supply

Software:
The driver-software supplied with the module must handle the size of the card.

As long as the CF is Type I (or, if you cut out the platsics on the back of the module, you could fit a type II card in it, but beware) and the CF not uses more power than available, there is no real limit other than that in the software, and, even if there is one now, it could be fixed in the future.
The OS has nothing to do with it.

Lexar CF cards will not work. Here is a list of compatible cards.
