Workbench is a new app that lets users run applications from removable cards. When launching an application from the card, Workbench first copies the application and all the databases that is associated to the application to RAM. It works with the m500 series, HandEra 330, and Sony handhelds. It is $10 shareware.

People who own one of the earlier MatchBook Drive adapters can now trade up to an Innopocket FlashPlus  They are offering a $10 trade-in allowance for the MD-001 (long) adapter and a $15 one for the MD-100 (flush) adapter.  Order the FlashPlus from MatchBook Products then return the MatchBook Drive in the same envelope. When it is received, the refund will appear on the credit card.001 (long) adapter and a $15 one for the MD-100 (flush) adapter.  Order the FlashPlus from MatchBook Products then return the MatchBook Drive in the same envelope. When it is received, the refund will appear on the credit card.

I don't see the difference. MsMount is more mature than this thing.

Workbench is cheaper.

Too bad I got PowerRun just last week.

I m beta testing Workbench version 1.2. Workbench has has added the feature of smart comparing databases from the card and tha Palm. Say for example with Avantgo, I could copy the biggerst files to the card (the PRC and the main database), leaving the required databases (1K sizes) that the Avantgo conduit checks in the Palm during hotsync. Upon hotsync, Avantgo will still download news and new information and create a new big database in the Palm. When you run Avantgo using WorkBench, it checks its own database version in the card if its older. If it is, it uses the one on the Palm. The best feature is, when you exit Avantgo, it copies back the new database to the card, and deletes the copy on the Palm! Neat! Really a space saver! This is something PowerRun can't do.

I was informed that version 1.2 will be released next week with reported bugs fixed. Support from the company is great and suggestions are really welcome. $10 is really a steal.

word-completion in Palm OS4

I.M. Anonymous @ 7/13/2001 9:48:07 AM #
What's up with the word-completion in Palm OS4? I have witnessed this in Address Book but can't find any documentation of this anywhere.

Can someone point me to a link explaining this?

I've noticed that too. I can't imagine what's doing it, or why for that matter. It doesn't seem to happen at a certain time either. Quite strange.

Address has always had word completion on title, company, city, and state. Does OS4 do more?

word completion OS4

Hi there! That "word completion" you're witnessing in os4 is also present in OS 3.5 and occurs specifically for these fields: company, city, state in the address book AFAIC, there's no "word completion" apart from that. it should be well documented on the palm's manual.
It's weird though. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't.

Do you know where it's at or what they call it in the manual??? I can't find it no place!!!

ps - the "English" above is intentionally improper in order to convey emphasis. So don't correct me English Police.

OS4

I have a palm IIIc. Can I put OS4 on it? If so, how, and would it cause a speed increase/decrease? Or other problems?

The new address pro has word completion feature. I think it's on the apps not on the O.S.
